Saw this over at AVS forum.  ABC to broadcast Superbowl, NBA Finals, Stanley Cup, and Monday Night Football in HDTV in 2003.

ESPN also annouced starting to transmit HDTV in April, 2003 including NFL games.

Things are shaping up.  Maybe this will push FOX and CBS to get all of their Sunday NFL games in HD for 2003. We can only hope!

Lot more expensive for Fox and CBS to broadcast their full NFL schedules (7 or 8 games a week) than it is for ESPN and ABC to broadcast their 1 or 2.

And as you may know, ABC broadcast Monday Night Fotoball in HD three years ago, and it didn't inspire FOx or CBS that time.

It will be curious to who will be willing to dediucate the bandwidth for ESPN HD... as slowly as the cable and satellite guys are embacing HD, they have to be fearing this...

Its kind of exciting to finally see HD really start taking off. Last night was truely the first time I had to choose between HD programs. It was great.

All this HD programming is nice, but if the 'masses' can't receive HD via cable or DirectTV, what's the difference.  I don't anticipate a lot of folks going back to rabbit ears.

Forget the rabbit ears, go rooftop.
