First of all ... I'm not a fan of multicasting, when there's an HD signal present.

That said, an idea.

Given the relationship PAX55 has with TMJ4, how about 4 giving 55 a 24x7 weather radar feed, for transmission on 55-2 ??

Yes, I'm a weather nut. I realize I can get radar on my PC.
However, it's across the room, and not within reach of my plush, chair-and-a-half PeopLounger. :D

What do you all think ??

Tom Snyder

I agree... there are some pretty cool radars on the 'Net...

But I'd hate to see WTMJ use bandwidth that they'll need when Pax 55 is all HD all the time. ;)

Why don't you set up a Video out of your PC that will let you do a PIP on your TV screen? :)

Don't suppose a rear view mirror on the TV would work?

Actually, before I went the route of HTPC, we did just what Tom suggested.
Took video out from PC and added a wireless a/v sender. I found a kit at X10 that included the software, an RF receiver and an RF universal remote with PC control. Worked very well over a 15' distance and through a wall.

'course, you'd have to check your video card for video out capabilities. Use a mirror to look behind your PC. And as long as you've got the mirror in your hand...      :D :D :D

I kinda thought that might happen ...

[/SIZE] Yeah ... I thought about it. I have 3 video cards in "stock" that have video out, plenty of parts, etc.

The bad part is ... it requires effort on my part. :D

Having it provided to me is much more appealing.

I haven't heard any plans for HD from PAX. We've got all that extra bandwidth out there ! :p

We can deal with the loss of the radar when HD ramps up

Let's take this one further. Pax will not have HD anything for a long, long time. So there are 4 channels up for grabs. One for the 55 feed, one for the weather radar (though they would have to leave it turned on more), one for continuous rerunning of 4's most recent newscast or even rerun plus update, and maybe one for MSNBC.  Let's start a cable system.

How about HDNET?

We had it once before. Run the Hawaiian Tropic Bikini contest after Touched by an Angel. :D
