Expecting the pregame in HD....... Very very very disappointed!

Tom Snyder

I was, too.

ABC probably doesn't have enough HD cams/crews/trucks to two events at different venues on the same night.

This would have had to be done in the stadium...why they didn't do that... who knows?

If you are seeing a 12 bug in the lower right screen, you are not looking at the HD feed. WISN only puts the bug on their digital NTSC transmission.

Something's asmiss!!!!!!!!!!

:(

Something so big, (with the hype including an independent section in the USA Today) and you would think they woulda made due. I am sure you can rent the equipment. Heck two guys here have HDTV cameras!?

And the camera work for the special was atrocious!!!! I had to vomit.

BTW the game looks good so far. I am soooo happy they practiced over the summer!

The Law

The quality is superb.  Sound is great too!  My gripe (gotta have one) is that I was hoping w/the advent of HD into football games to finally get a glimps of the routes the receivers are running.  Alas, all we get to see is 5-10 yards of the offensive backfield.

Please, please, if you know anyone who can make a difference, tell 'em....show us the defensive secondary....let's see what the quarterback sees.  Use the widescreen to it's fullest!

I will say this, though, the camera work is getting a lot better.  The pans are smoothing out...I don't fall off the couch with the bed spins anymore :D ...now if we could nudge the camera downfield ju.u.u.st a tad :)

Pregame??? Who wants to watch that fluff?

I completely agree!  Especially since I'm a Redskins fan transplanted here! :)

I do agree that a little more practice, especially in the secondary is still needed.  Plus, it's still disturbing to still see non-HD cameras used during the HD broadcast, especially the overhead cam that was floating around.

But, I really found very little else to complain about. (Aside from the rather weak 2nd half play by the 'skins of course.  But, I won't bore Packer fans with that!)

It kind of reminds me of Fox Widescreen.  I have to admit though some of the SD cameras covering the game were even lower quality than you can expect with Fox.

The HD is breathtaking.  The sound is amazing.  I love MNF in HD!

I found myself having to reset my DTC-100 after local breaks to restore the 5.1 sound.  Hope that's not a regular occurance...

Ok, I'll admit that came out harsher than I expected after re-reading it today. I guess I was just annoyed at the amount of press that was given to the pregame stuff. Sorry. :o

I guess my point is that I wouldn't expect to see it in HD and would obviously prefer that it not go to HD at the expense of the game itself.  If more HD cameras are going to be used, I'd much prefer them to replace all the SD cameras in the game itself and not be used on the pregame.

Don't even give 'em in inch... we want it all in HD. Whether we choose to watch it or not is another issue. As for this DOM, I would have thouroughly enjoyed several of the artists in high quailty Hi-Def. If I could send you a stream of the Half-time show at the superbowl, you would understand.

P.S. I don't want to hear from the "there aren't enough resources...they go where the market is blah blah crowd." It's abundantly clear that this technology requires some push marketing strategies. I am so happy that I was not embarassed, as my two guests (read potential HD customers) were too busy to show up for the evening.

I saw the SuperBowl in HD last year and my opinion still stays the same.  I watch for football, not the other stuff -- As far as I'm concerned, the "performances" are just filler material marginally better than a whole block of commercials.

But, that's largely my opinion.

And as I mentioned, if they're going to put HD cameras somewhere, they should be to completely convert all the cameras covering the game before them being used anywhere else.
