Does anyone know about IN HD?

It is showing up on some TWC as well as other cable systems around the country, already.
It is my understanding that there will be 2 channels like this and our TWC is supposed to have it this fall (like this month).:D

Correct me if I am wrong, but is IN HD supposed be like a pay-per-view HD channel as is "IN Demand"?

Their website does not give any pricing or even if there is any cost to the channel for-the-viewing.

TWC people:
Can you at least (without getting fired) tell us here on the forum what it really is and if it is like a PPV sort of thing?
Thanks in advance.

Here is the link to their website. From what I understand these 2 channels will be  free!!  It will be 2 separate channels of HDTV broadcasting which will include sports and movies. You are correct in saying other TWC ciites are carrying the free previews now while our beloved TWC here in Milwaukee chooses not to. Let's hope they are on the ball by putting it on the air Sept 15th which is the debut.

And because it's not InDemand cable technology, it's available to any system (Including Dish and DirecTV)...not just cable companies.

Now that us DirecTV guys are paying extra $$$ for an HDTV package, sure would be nice to get this as part of it...

Tom, I installed the SAT-C kit, but I have not signed up for the HD package. Do you think that it is a good value.

Please try and "sell" me........

Tom Snyder

I don't know if I can "sell" anyone on that...

HD Net has a bunch of stuff I don't care about. B-level sports, and features I wouldn't watch in a million years if they weren't in HD...but I do because they are. Occasionally there are some cool concerts.

However, you may not care about the concerts but find a series that floats your boat.

HD Net movies is nothing but old movies. With a half dozen exceptions, I don't care to ever see a movie a second time.  The ones on HD Net Movies that I've seen I don't care to see again. The ones I didn't care to see I don't care to see now.

However, you may be a classic movie buff and might find some great flicks.

Discovery HD is a bunch of nature stuff and travelogues. And Trading Spaces in HiDef.  Wish Trading spaces was on in HD the same time as the SD version.

ESPN is 95% Stretched SD.. ticks me off whenever I see it. But when they show HiDef Football I'm in heaven!

What I want in HD is the stuff I normally like to watch in SD...I won't be happy until Fox News Channel, Comedy Central, HGTV, the local news and all Football is in HD. The HD package gives me a little more of the stuff that I like: concerts, football, Trading Spaces.  And 10 bucks a month is no big deal.

But that's just me.

Wants Fox News Channel in HD? Why would anyone want to see arrogant white males in super clear pictures.

Todd Wiedemann

Whoa ! Slow down, guys. We like to keep this a mud-slinging free zone.

:D

Quotearrogant white males in super clear pictures

Actually I got that the other night with Al Franken on Jay Leno. ;)

But I do prefer a news network that gives credence to both liberal and conservative viewpoints... or are you not aware of folks like Allen Colmes, Greta Van Sustern and Geraldo Rivera. Bill O 'Reilly is a moderate with views that some conservatives would find too liberal, and vice-versa.

As far as being all male... it's apparent that you don't watch. It's like accusing the sky of not having enough blue.

Arrogance? There's no shortage of arrogance in the media... having been in the media, I know that it's the rule rather than the exception.. .

White? White people watch prgramming for white people, black people watch programming for black people, hispanics... etc...

OK.. I'm all out of pearls.

Back to subject guys...IN HD!

Carefully reviewing the TWC Customer Care website the words IN Demand HD seem to translate, at least to me, the words IN HD (for short). :(  Someone (knowledgeable) tell me I am wrong.

If this preview going out on other cable companies (including the other TWC locations) around the country for the premiere on 9/15 is to get subscribers "interested", then it becomes a pay-per-view thing more costly than the $10.99 flat fee Directv charges for 4 HD channels, then this is NOT a good deal.

5 BILLED showings of IN HD at say, $2.99 (guess) equals about $15 plus tax and that could be for just PART of a month. More than that Directv flat fee.
Not good.:(

I could be wrong, but my feeling now is that IN HD is a RAT  in disguise!

Screw that!

Note: Our TWC forum members have been quiet about the billing of it (or even the mention of it) and I don't think it's because they are trying to keep their jobs!:o

QuoteWhile I can't stand the right-winged snobs at FNC, I would love CNN and MSNBC in HD!

It's good to see someone (a liberal?) finally admit that he is much more comfortable watching CNN.:D

Fox News Channel in HD would be GREAT!

gparris:

You obviously haven't looked at this link to the site yet

         http://www.inhd.com/

These are not a pay per view channels !! These are HDNET like type of channels.

gparris

Per their website at TWC-a direct quote:

"Also this fall, INHD will be available to HD customers. HD InDemand will offer several hundred hours of feature films, professional sports and college sports--including a college football game of the week, general interest programming like "Family-Fare" plus award winning mini-series."

Isn't  "InDemand" a Pay-Per-View thing?

Their charge for this IS different from IControl - which is $6.95 for HBO, TMC, etc premiums.

Let's not confuse "IControl" with "In Demand".

IN HD is PPV. I an NOT convinced otherwise.

If you lived closer to me I'd bet you a case of beer you are wrong!

gparris

IN HD is a free service - and not to be confused with IN DEMAND HD...unless told we told  otherwise..OK!
The website looks like it is a version of what you get with  the HDNET programming, maybe different.:)

It is just that the TWC website is confusing. Their answers can be a little ambiguous.:(

Question-anyone have problems with TWC channel 541 after 9PM on Sunday?
This was  Discovery HD Theater's "Dinosour" show-which was quite good, until the screen went blank and all that was left when you hit the info button on the the remote, was the TWC channel ID and programmes' description.:(

Maybe TWC was testing the HD channels in its system for that IN HD addition...:) Then it was knocked off the system. Haven't checked the channel today, yet.
