TWC's Pioneer HD3510 and the DVI Output

I've been following with interest the discussions on this forum in regard to the Pioneer HD3510 box and the DVI output of it.  I have a Samsung DLP television and I cannot get the two to work together.   So yesterday I emailed TWC and asked if there were issues with the DVI output of the HD3510.  Here's the response I got:

Thank you for writing to Time Warner Cable! I am more than happy to answer your questions and concerns. Unfortunately, in checking with our technical staff, we are unaware of any connection issues with the DVI connection on the Pioneer 3510 HDTV converter. You are welcome to write to Pioneer to pose your connection issue to their staff via the following link:

The link is to Pioneer's website and an online form for asking for support.

So, what does this tell me?  Pretty much nothing.  I went to see if by some miracle because TWC said there are no problems, that I was just imagining them ;) but amazingly, I still cannot get the two to communicate.  All I get is a message telling me to connect the set top box to a HDTV.

Has anyone had any success in getting the DVI to work on the HD3510?  And, one step further, has anyone got it to work with a Samsung DLP?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

I have it working with no problems. I have a Toshiba TV. There are different variations of a DVI cable. You might want to start with the cable.

I'm using a DVI-D cable and have tried two different ones just to be sure.  It's a good troubleshooting tip though!  Thanks!  :)

I've got the same problem with my Sammy.  Another thing that happens is that the Closed Captioning is turned on on the STB when you go back to component outputs.  Turning Captioning 'on' and then 'off' fixes the problem.

After working with Pioneer for the last few weeks, it is now a known issue with the Pioneer STB; as they have been able to duplicate it in the lab.

Right now the ball is in Pioneer's court.  They are looking at their DVI driver as the possible culprit, but things could change.

Stick with component for now --- and don't hold your breath... patches are usually slow to get beta tested and released.

On the plus side, I was the one who opened the ticket with Pioneer, so hopefully they will test the patch in the Milwaukee system.

With any luck, we will get some closure before the holidays....

I just sent TWC Email inquiring about the new 3510 boxes.

I also talked to customer service and they told me "We do not have that box".

I heard that for now the DVI is inactive on these boxes anyways.

I have a Samsung DLP and would like to use the DVI when it becomes active.

Does anyone have the 3510HD from TWC with DVI that works?

I have the 3510 with a working DVI output. I got mine recently, and I have heard that earlier 3510's didnt have the DVI output turned on. Its on a Toshiba 50hdx82 currently.
