Just wonder what everbody thinks?

Watching both PBS HD and Discovery HD, I would say PBS looks a little better (Discovery still looks excellent).  Is Discovery HD 720?
Maybe the difference is in how they film.

It depends on which show your are watching. Insectia always looked excellent and some of the transferred materials not so.

HDNET is on par with PBS. A guy with few billions of dollars can buy some really good HD equipment. You should have watched HDNET's "Bikini Destinations" . :)

I think that's a big part of it... a lot of those Discovery documentaries are shot on film and "upconverted" to HD compared to most of the PBS material being shot in 1080 digital video.  So, you pick up all sorts of grain and film artifacts.  Still looks great, though, and the DD audio is awesome.

Finally! I have some HD material I'm actually interested in watching for its content.  I don't have to watch some sit-com I don't find funny just because it's in HD. :)

amen, brother...

btw...how come above your picture, skipjack, it says "Enormous Member" - a bit presumptuous!
