PBS, HD: "The Carl Foreman Documents" unwatchable

Tried to watch this last night.  HD picture was just fine, but the left channel of the audio was missing.  Ended up watching from 9-11 in NTSC, instead of from 8-10 in HD.

It was peculiar to hear and impossible to catch the drift of the program.  Some of the audio was missing, some was fine, and some was muffled.  I decided the left channel was missing.  If the right channel was intended, sound was OK.  If the center channel was intended, the sound was muffled, and if the left channel was intended, it was missing altogther.

I think it was a PBS network issue.  Both Milwaukee and Madison stations had the same problem.
