Basic cable and HD?

I know before you could get basic cable and HD channels from TWC instead of subscribing to digital cable. Is this still correct?

I believe in order to get TWC HD you need the basic cable ($39/month) and a cable box ($6.95/month with remote).

There's Basic and Standard packages offered by TWC.  Above these are the digital packages.  The Basic package included the analog locals and was under $20.  There were a couple members who signed up for the Basic package and added the HD receiver.

You can get local HD channels with a Basic subscription, but you need to rent the digital converter and remote from them to get it. I believe it is a tad over $20/month after taxes and franchise fees.

I'm subscribed to just basic (analog) cable from TW at about $11 per month. I then when down and picked up an HD receiver (and required remote) and they added about another $9 per month for both of those. It does come in right about $20.

Note that when I first called customer service in Milwaukee they told me I couldn't get HD unless I had digital cable. I asked them to go check with a supervisor and told them that other people were doing it and then they came back with a "yes" but wanted to have a tech come and install it.

I then called the Kenosha office directly. Again I was told it couldn't be done without digital cable. Again I asked them to check and the rep came back and said "come pick up the receiver whenever you'd like". Just need to be a little persistent on this one, unless they've changed their policy since March.

When I HAD satellite service and couldn't deal with a large antenna outside the house for HD locals, I  got the HD locals from TWC and HAD to get the "digital package" of $39.95 plus the $6.95 for digital box and remote.
No way, the Kenosha office replied, could I do any different. :mad:

So when I get satellite service back (when I move back into a house again), I will do this. I guess it all depends on WHO you talk to and nag!:bang:

This is another shining example of how TWC does not train its employees very well.

It's true, I have basic cable and HD. I think the digital HD box and the remove rental are about $6.00 and the total price per month is right around $20. I get all of the HD locals and local regulars channels plus some strange ones like Style, Golf, Weather, Oxygen, Food, WE, TBS, WGN, Shopping, Mexican, PAX, Religion, ABC Family, BET, Disney, Movie Plex, National Geographic, and CSPAN.

Are you using the Pioneer 3510 box?

Here is my advice from the inside:

You can get basic service with a box. Simply tell the rep you are talking to that you would like to order basic service with an hdtv converter.

If they say that is impossible, explain that FCC law says that TWC has to offer this request and that they should refer to their intranet source for information.

P.S. aside from the HDTV channels and WHA, you'll also get access to channels 1100-1180 which are the free on demand info.
