Due to covering the Big Bang Summerfest fireworks tonight we have to delay the Tonight Show with Jay Leno by 7 minutes. That's easy to do on the SD channel, but we don't have an HD delay server for 4-1.

This would have been a good opportunity to use the sub channels.  Would it have been possible to run the summer fest coverage on analog 4 and on 4-2 while continuing with HD feed on 4-1 broadcasting Leno real time?

I understand the HD feed would be a bit more compressed but I'd rather have that and a delayed SD Leno.

Is there a limitation with your hardware setup, a problem with local advertising, or just a political issue?

Even if you had the ability to delay Leno in HD I still would have switched to the Madison feed.  It would be nice to have the choice of watching the real-time NBC feed, even if it's SD, vs. extended news broadcasts and delayed NBC programming.

Do you think that could ever happen?
