New HD channels:

    Discovery HD Theater in Summer
    Fox Sports in fall
    In Demand in fall

And yes, this information is trustworthy.. I work there :) Not very specific, but I'm trying to find out dates (or months, at least.)

here's some more info:

> >> TIME WARNER CABLE ADDS TO ITS HD LINEUP WITH PROGRAMMING FROM DISCOVERY,
>> FOX SPORTS, iN DEMAND
>>
>> Time Warner Cable has announced plans to offer high-definition programming
>> from iN DEMAND, Discovery and Fox Sports Net.  As a continuation of its
>> commitment to deliver consumers the most robust set of HD channels possible,
>> Time Warner Cable will add Discovery HD Theater and Fox Sports Net services to
>> its high-definition line-up just as it offers the services from ABC, NBC,
>> CBS, FOX, PBS,  HBO and Showtime today.  The incremental retail cost for iN
>> DEMAND's suite of two high-definition channels has yet to be determined.
>>
>> Starting this fall, a number of Fox Sports Net will begin to produce live
>> HD game telecasts of many of the Major League Baseball, National Basketball
>> Association and National Hockey League teams within those local communities.
>>
>> Discovery HD Theater will provide content 24/7 filmed entirely in
>> high-definition.  The channel delivers programs about nature, science and technology,
>> geography, travel and world culture - all designed to provide the
>> highest-quality viewing experience available.  Discovery HD Theater will be available
>> to Time Warner Cable customers this summer.
>>
>> INHD, which will be available to Time Warner Cable customers in fall, will
>> offer several hundred hours of feature films, professional sports, college
>> sports - including a college football game of the week, and general interest
>> programming like family-fare and award winning mini-series.

Edit: In Demand HD is coming September.

Hope you right-afterall, you ARE working there...I just wish TWC offered HDNET- I have gotten hooked on their programmes.

Could you check, please? :)

Giving up DIRECTV is hard to do when they start offering 3 channels TWC has no plans for, HD DISCOVERY not included.:bang:

Thanks in advance!

I asked around.. (I don't work in that department so I don't get this info directly) and there's no info about HDNET :(

I'll keep digging.

The really big question is: HOW ABOUT ESPNHD????

Skipjack

Thanks Shirow... we appreciate any semi-solid information you can give us. :)

I'm a little disheartened (and surprised) to hear no ESPN HD.  Especially since it was mentioned in another thread.   If I was running the show over at TWC, that would be at the top of my list.  Especially since I believe HD sports can be a huge selling point for HDTV purchases.

The quicker Time Warner adds HD programming, the greater leverage it can gain from satellite competition.

(you can relay that last comment to Mr. Warner.... or Mr. Time. ;)  )

Shirow

Yeah, I agree.

Just wish I had someone I could pass on the sentiment to :)

Last I heard, the date is 'July/August'

Some may like HDNet, but I know that I personally would rather have FOX Sports Net in HD over HDNet (or HDNet movies for that matter.) However, I will agree that TWC NEEDS ESPN-HD !! I can't wait for football season to start.

Shirow, PLEASE tell me that you really, really, work for Time Warner Cable and WHAT your source is that you can be telling  us that a July/August timeframe for HD Discovery Theater exists when NO ONE at TWC  can tell ME anything for the past TWO MONTHS?:bang:

TWC has been lacking in HD channel additions lately and right now, DIRECTV and quite possibly, DISH Network, are overtaking them in the race for more HD.

Are we to undersstand that you DO WORK for TWC, so WHO gave you this information? You say you don't work in "that department": Which department?

Thanks in advance!

I work for commercial Road Runner, but my wife works in inbound sales.. they all got an email the day I posted this - I pasted the exact text into the first message :)

The only reason she told me is that I'd just bought an HDTV and was griping about TWC's mediocre offering of channels  ;)

July/August is what I've heard as InDemand HD has been slated for September and the others are supposed to be coming 'a month or two before'

Of course, this is (possibly) all subject to change... but this is what the sales people were told... if people can't tell you anything there it's because they're:

A) Lazy
B) Don't read their email
C) Both

So what's up with this month of routine mainenance on pop-server.wi.rr.com? When will we be able to actually send emails again? Frustrated@wi.rr.com. :D

Personally, I cant wait for TBS, TNT, TNN, History, TLC, OLN, HGTV, NBC, CBS, ABC, PBS, MTV, VH1....... To broadcast everything in HD, as it should be. No more of this screwing around hoping that a cool show happens to be broadcast in HD. MMMMM, won't that be nice. I am happy about Discovery though, I like programming you can get something out of. Thanks for the info!

Cheers,
Mark

Wasn't aware there was any maintenance on it, but we don't use that server for businesses anyway :p
