Although I do not receive HDTV, I noticed that 18 and 24 were showing that they were broadcasting in HDTV.  Just wondering if anyhone else noticed this?

24-1 coming in strong on 3/21/03.

I'm getting a signal strength of 88 on 24-1, but only a 45 on 18-1.

Both pictures are just a standard SD at the moment.. not even an upconvert.

But this is good news...

I am getting mid-70's on both stations. It does seem like all my signal strength's for all channels  are lower by about  5-6 or so.

Thanks for the update.  I will do a re-scan.

When Channel 6 digital came on line as TWC 506, even with a weak signal OTA (and still is) which, of course, irritated OTA folks that did not have TWC, it was still an important event.
Question: WILL TWC offer 518 and 524 in digital? I know that the WB network is doing HDTV broadcasts, though few, but it is a step in the right direction. Other TWC systems, like the one in Orlando area, DO offer WB as part of their line-up so I am anticipatiing at very least, 518 (channel 18)  in digital.

So if channel 18 can cut a deal with TWC, its signal, including the HDTV part, will make it the seventh HD channel, eighth for DTV channels, if you count FOX digital. This will  be great!

I have discussed this with TWC and they are checking it out, along my requests for Discovery HD and ESPN HD...it is all a matter of contracts and cost. Not everybody wanting HD will pay what DISH subscribers pay for just ONE HD channel like Discovery.

But I would....

I thought this was a cruel joke last night being played on Milwaukee12, now I'm assuming it's for real? Of course we're not getting the HD for a few decades from the fine owner of a car dealership in MD. Sinclair needs to put that money somewhere if it isn't in HD. ;)

TWC will proabably start 518 and 524 with a blue screen stating "WTMJ, WDJT, and all Sinclair stations are not broadcasting High Definition material at this time but we'll keep billing you for this blue screen of info." Flipping channels on the HiPix has pretty much become nothing more than a "return to last channel" function.

I can't seem to recall the digital station numbers for 18 and 24? What I mean is like NBC is 28, ABC is 34 etc. Can someone refresh my memory? I've looked on several sites and can't seem to find the info.

Thanks,

18 should be on ch. 61, 24 should be on ch. 25.

Excellent. Thanks. I get 61 (61-1) but no 24.  :(

However, 61-1 doesn't appear to be a digital signal. The banner still says 'SD' and I'm getting grey bars on the sides instead of the normal black bars that most stations transmit on their digital signal. Dunno... I'll keep an eye on it.

Thanks for the info.

Move the antenna 1" to the left. :D

It is amazing how positional the reception can be. All within a 3ft wide by 5ft high region I can go from 5 to 84 on ABC, 45 to 80 on CBS, 4 to 76 on PBS, 2 to 66 on Ch 22, 5 to 68 on 24.1, and 30 to 68 on 18.1. Of course ABC requires the antenna to the Left and CBS to the Right. 24.1 and 22.1 like elevated heights and NBC doesn't ever seem to change. You wouldn't think it would be that difficult. Maybe a series of these Silver Sensor antennas would do the job. ;) There's nothing I can do to get Fox 6 though other than cable.

61 is comming in as 18-1 with a signal strength of 82

I sent this link to the folks at //www.100000watts.com ... they have added 25 and 61 to the list, FYI.

Keep your fingers crosssed, guys. From 8-9pm tonight, Everwood (?) is listed at HDTVGalaxy to be in 1080i !!

Never seen the show, but it'll be interesting to see if 18/24 (Smallville tomorrow !!) go full HD !

I would bet not.  Sinclair did the same thing in Madison with Fox47/11.  They set up the digital channel but never got the equipment to pass on anything other than upconverts.  Throw in some vague language about  maybe sometime, keep watching, and you have the sinclair HD formula.  Having said that I hope they surprise me.
