Jim Hall asked me to post the fact CBS pulled the plug on their multicast at 10:50 am this morning.

They will be able to broadcast in
HD when there is a true HD game on... that starts on Friday.:(

Did he say why ?? I'm guessing because of ESPN rights, but I'm still curious.

Answered my own question:

QuoteDue to CBS News coverage of the war, we have made arrangements to move the NCAA Tournament to ESPN for the following games.
Here's the link.

No CBS and no ESPN for me today. What a terrible way to treat the viewer. Lure folks in and then enforce a total blackout.

Dumb move! You've lost a viewer until this policy is gone or the tournament is over. Local affiliates need to tell corporate this policy is hurting local and national business.

Today and likely for the month now CBS has joined my blacklist along with Fox, UPN, and the WB.

That sucks. So instead of basketball I get a black screen? This seemed to start last night during war coverage.

I just flipped through all of the 46 sub channels, and I'm sorry, but most were hardly watchable.  NCAA1, 2 and 3 were showing games, 1 & 3 were the same content (this was 46.4 and 46.6).

Digital Television and more specifically HDTV is about Quality of content, not quantity.  I've got more channels than I know what to do with already.

Knocking off 46.1 is, in my opinion, a slap in the face to those of us that have pioneered DT here.  The fact that 46.1 is black yet 58 analog is live is not acceptable.  Fix it please.

CBS 58 has been so good with HDTV.  It's very disappointing not to have any enhanced quality NCAA coverage.

Let's give channel 58 credit for doing a fantastic job of showing the Badgers and Panthers at the same time.  They skipped commercial breaks to cut to one game or the other (that costs them $$) and used the SAP channel for the audio.

Thank you.

TW 505 has been down all day.  Fine, I can live with that.  Now, CBS on Ch. 8 in Kenosha is down.  What is going on???

Thank goodness we get the Chicago CBS channel, even though the quality is nearly unwatchable.

Yeah it seemed to go down just before halftime of the UWM game, but it's  up again.  It must have been a TWC  connection to 58 problem, because my friend who has an ota box still got the game.  At least its back now.

Your buddy may be smokin' something or has a really good OTR antenna system...  The cause of the outage was the fact that CBS-58 lost power at their transmitter site.
