Official HD logo

Does anyone out there have an "official" HD logo out there? Is there someplace I can snag it from? Thanks much!

Hmm... that's a good question. HDTV isn't a "brand" like Dolby, Sony, or Mitsubishi. No one owns the copyright/trademark.

So then why do Compact Disc Digital Audio, DVD, and VHS all have "official" logos?

These are all licensed and possibly patented, and a royalty is paid to the owners of the intellectual property.

The CD logo on compact discs is a copyright logo that has to be on CDs because of license issues.  Philips owns the copyright for this technology.  Basically it states any CD with this logo will play in a player with the same logo.



There was an article a while ago that by trying to introduce copyright protection the studios where violating the copyright that Philips holds.  Philips was thinking about making the record labels remove the logo from CDs with the protection.

I found the  story.  Not sure if it is the same one but it is similar to the one I remember reading.
