It's been a while since this thread has been active.  But since it was very helpful to me when deciding what equipment to buy, I'm resurecting it :D.    Also this is my first post but I've been lurking about and (hopefully) learning for a while.

Milwaukee digtal: NBC, CBS, ABC, UPN, WB, PBS all come in strong.

Chicago digital: NBC, ABC, UPN, PBS, Fox all strong.  WB very strong.  CBS comes in but a little weak at times.

My setup: CM 9521A Rotor, CM 3671 Ant, CM 7777 preamp, (all on a 10' tripod on the roof - single story), Zenith Sat 520 DirectTv/OTA receiver.  (Also a Toshiba 42" RPTV and a Kenwood VR-615 home Theater)

Location: Kenosha, near Green Bay Road and 60th Street.

Using a Samsung SIR-T151 receiver and a Jensen TV940 programmable indoor antenna, I get strong signals from the following channels:

8D, 25D, 28D, 34D, 46D

Hit and miss on:  22D & 61D

Complete miss on: 33D (Fox get your act together)

I live at the very SouthEast corner of New Berlin.

I have a Samsung SIR-T150, and a fairly large directional attenna mounted in the attic above the garage.  I also installed a signal amplifier before the spitter in the basement.

I get strong signals from:  8, 25, 28, 34, 46, 61

As expected, 33 in a no show.

I live at 51st & Drexel in Franklin.

46, 28, 8, 34, 61, 25 all strong

33 only in a dream I had once.

They probably have determined, just like Sinclair, that it's cheaper to ship Powell out of the office to Tahiti than put out a digital signal. Were are those fines???

As a new member, I've found this thread interesting.  I am contemplating an antenna for my location in Jackson.  Located just east of the great divide north of hwy 60, I am wondering if purchasing the largest antenna will reward me with signals from Madison or other points of interest.

I suspect I will have no trouble bringing in Milwaukee, as I have a clear view of the towers from my location.

My question is ....what is overkill?

Are there any good antenna people in the Milw. area that one can recommend for possible tower, antenna, rotor installations?

Thanks
Gary

Hi Gary,

It all depends on what you future needs might be.  Do you see yourself running 4 tv sets off one antenna feed?  A bigger antenna usually gives you more gain and a high signal level.
Which can be split easier and sent to multiple tv sets without a pre amp.  However it also means they become more directional.  I use a bigger antennas so I don't need to run an preamp.  I have seen some preamps cause problems with DTV reception.

I would call.

25 UPN - Signal Strength: 65
28 NBC - Signal Strength: 100
34 ABC - Signal Strength: 100
35 PBS - Signal Strength: 100
40 PAX - Signal Strength: 100

Antenna: Large Winegard in attic (don't remember model #)
ATSC Receiver: Hughes HIRD-E86
Location: 3 miles east/southeast of West Bend (School Rd and Paradise Dr)

I haven't tried to get any other stations besides Miwaukee. However, I'm planning to move the antenna outside and add a rotator to see what I can get from other cities.
