Hmm.. I don't know what major problems you guys are talking about? It may have just been TWC.. Seriously. While some replays were meh, none were unwatchable. By way of comparison I had Tivo'ed the game (for the ad replays) and would show my friends A/B comparisons and lo and behold, the pic on Tivo version was identical to the SD replay on HD. This was OTA, not TWC.

The sound being off in the beginning, the SD cams, and the freezing at one point was not TWC. I have more of gripe with the camera work that ABC did.

I agree on the camera work.  Looked like they had a few HD cams out on the field, but they all got second priority in shots to the SD cams.  How many times did we see shots of the back of an SD cameramans head?

The sound was off in the beginning, but that could have been fixed with the mix between the direct mic feed and the ambient stadium feed (picking up the PA system).  Once ABC's people weren't on the PA, it was fine.

All in all, though, it was a very enjoyable experience.  Certainly much better than SD.  The couple of glitches weren't too bad. I didn't have too many complaints.  For the touchdown missed, I was able to switch to the analog SD broadcast and catch the replay at least.

So did anybody notice that the HD broadcast was a good 4 seconds delayed from the analog SD broadcast?

Did anyone have the game clock cut-off.  On my set, half of the time remaining in the upper corners of the screen were cut-off.  I had no idea how much time was left.  Is my overscan screwed up?

Just the very very top of the box the time clock is in was cut off although I could read the time just fine. THis is with my overscan calibrated to about 4% on all sides. I think ABC has to adjust a little for the overscan. If you couldnt see the time at all...your overscan had to be 8 to 10% which is not good!

Hey Todd I sent both you and Greg Screen shots with the clock....and boy on my computer and also on the big screen it was just like the screen shot I sent you guys.  Boy I'm glad I went with the RCA seems like I don't have the probs. with overscan you guys do.

Wow, after looking at those pictures that Gregg posted showing the position of the game clock, you'd have to have some serious overscan to be missing it.  Just to ask a stupid question, you guys did have the monitor in the correct mode right?  No stretching of the screen?

No problem on my Mits with the game clock.  I did notice that letterboxed ads had more black on top than on the bottom, though.  Not sure if that's my display, the SA3100HD, ABC, or WISN...

After cruising some of the other forums on the net, it looks like a fair number of people had the same issue.  It looks like if you have an overscan of 4-5%, some of the clock was missing, with 10% overscan missing the whole score.
It appears that the early Mits sets have a defalt overscan on the HD mode similar to SD.  (That is the problem of being an early adopter i guess)  The screen shots look like they are with 0% overscan, which should be correct with HD.

It's much easier to be discriminatory the next day, when you sift through the recording.

The Pre-game (Dion and Chicks) was spectacular. Some of the shots of the soldiers were very moving.

The game had many out-of-focus takes. Someone on a different thread noticed this...it was not your TV!!! Sometimes the camera swung wildly (almost out of control!?)  I noticed the out-of-focus as I was trying to do some captures. I recently did an amateur production of our Christmas Eve Service with three broadcast quality (SD) cameras and (again) amateur cameramen. You tend to notice this stuff when you are responsible for displaying the best of three shots.

The replay of the half time show was OUTSTANDING. I only hate two kinds of music...Country AND Western...But Shania in HD...WOW. The camera folks were having a hard time with the action on stage as I noticed that the shots of NoDoubt and Sting were much better than Shania. I noticed this as I was trying to snap Shania for my Brother-In-Law. I know that he would not want a snap of Gwen, and there were much better photo-ops as the show moved on.

I have a snap of the "Chicks" just before they started the Anthem...looks like I was there with a digital camera.

One problem with the game was that everytime there was a problem on screen, dozens of eyes turned towards me. Guess being an experimental eary-adopter ain't all it's cracked up to be. When the picture locked up at the first touchdown, I was nearly drawn-and quartered. Quick-thinking me had the game channel set on the DTV local channels, and saved my life with the quick flip of the "Input" button. (Whew)

I haven't decided if this was really worth the nearly three year wait...maybe if GB was in it!? Or maybe the game just sucked too much?

But............

Live action is it for HD...No doubt about it! How in the heck am I going to survive the next several months without NFLHD?

P.S. I used the Titan EPG and missed the last fifteen minutes of the game--5:00 to 9:00 just did not cut it. S'OK as I will probably try to retain the pre-game and halftime show anyway. AND I am not so sure there were two teams on the field dring my gap!?

Maybe Badgers or Marquette in the sweet sixteen would suffice!?

Just as I suspected... Shania Twain looked yummy in HD.

Also, the commercials for ESPN HD looked awesome!  I may never leave my basement if TWC ever picks that up!  I may even have to start watching hockey!

Was the Matrix commercial HD?  I was upstairs and caught it on my 27" in SD.  :bang:

We noticed that the clock was partly missing.  I did recalibrate my alignment so that I has a uniform 3% overscan all the way round, but come to think of it, I am not sure if i did this on my HD input, so I probably got 5% overscan there.

I wondered if the partial loss of the clock was a result of the SA3100HD doing a 720p to 1080i conversion.  Did not think it might be my TV.  I'll have get back into the service menu and do a new 64 point alignment to my customer made external grid (to get the 3% overscan).

Actually, I do suspect that either the TWC HD cable box or the TWC feed itself did have something to do with the clock being cut off.  I have 3% overscan on the top of my Tosh and it still was partially cut off.  I also have the 3% on the bottom and the ABC logo was significantly further from the edge of the screen than the score/time display.

Yup, my new halftime show and trailer loops are fantastic. :D
