You're right, the advantages have now all accrued to Spectrum. Will anyone be shocked to see management bonuses & share prices increase?

Unregulated duopoly math says, "Throttle less, raise the rack rate by $20 a month, bundle the modem again, and tell people they're getting a better deal.  Most of them won't figure it out, and the ones that do, well, good luck finding a competitive provider. "

It appears that now Spectrum includes the modem again.  Now savings owning anymore.

Milwaukee HDTV Technical Issues / Spectrum:Search/Caller ID/VOD ...

Guys,

We had a major storm two days ago and a loss of power for six hours yesterday.  Caller ID, search and VOD are down on the cable box.  Along with show cover art.  Anyone else having this problem?  Trying to avoid calling in, because they might roll out a clown, who will want to swap the box and I don't want to do that.  It's a six-tuner DVR and Spectrum does not give them out anymore.

Spectrum said that there was maintenance last night on voice mail.

General Forum Announcements / Forum Software Updated
Last post by techguy1975 - Wednesday May 24, 2017, 09:26:24 AM
The forum software has been updated to the latest version of Simple Machines Forum which is 2.0.14.  Version 2.1 is coming soon which from the preview I've seen is very nice and clean.  That version is still in beta however.    If you notice any issues here since the update, let me know!

Back with TWC, you could only transfer OTA channels between Tivos and to Tivo Desktop.

I've noticed since it's Spectrum, the option exists for many cable channels now to transfer programs.  Wonder if CC will go away altogether.

I could have sworn that TWC was the only cable company that required a tuning adapter.  I thought other cable companies were able to provide two way cable cards to open up on demand....maybe I'm wrong about that?

Plus the potential amount they could make by selling their transmitter, antenna, etc..  However, I'd guess they would probably keep all of that and use it as a backup

They can cancel the PBS Auction for the next 85 years!

Found this interesting from the link above ..
all but one station in Milwaukee will change channels.[/i]

Context is important; based on the FCC enumeration, I read it as ... all but one of the four listed will change channels.  Meaning, other stations aren't changing channel frequencies, although they could certainly change virtual channel numbers.  Let me know if I'm missing something, though.
Nope, it literally means all but one Milwaukee channel will change channels. Here's a URL that lists the new channel assignments:
https://www.rabbitears.info/repackchannels.php?country=US&city=&state=&mktid=41&owner=&sort=

Although, according to that list, it's actually 2 channels, if you include WIWN in the Milwaukee market. They remain on 5 and WMVS remains on 8. Everyone else moves to a new channel assignment.

Wasn't there some discussion about VHF not handling ATSC as well as UHF?  I thought that was why they changed subchannel assignments a few years back on 10 & 36.

We've backtracked a long way since I walked into Flanner's years ago and saw Channel 10 (8 VHF) in its full bitrate glory, before NTSC was shut off.   This site should probably be called "MilwaukeeATSC.com" ;)

I'm glad that ghosting and snow are gone, but the TV biz has changed so much since ATSC was rolled out, I'll be surprised if more than a handful can sustain for another decade.

Are they going to pocket most of this cash and let the stations die a slow death?

I'm thinking a lot of past members will look at the money MPTV is getting and say, "Looks like they won't be needing my donations any more!"
