There was some discussion about moving the record function from the box to 'the cloud'.  I too have noticed the new messages when starting a playback and it may be that the recording is no longer local.

I'm on vacation, sounds like I will have at least a small learning curve when I get home.

Compatible or not, any modem has to be 'on the list' or there is a good chance you will not be able to get it activated.  

I'll also enter my suggestion to keep the modem and router as separate devices.

Thanks LoadStar, that makes sense.  The work has been in the vicinity of schools and City Hall.

Looks like 'cable.com' is doing a lot of work in Brookfield.  It looks like they are installing yellow tubing that, I assume, will have fiber optic cables pulled through later.  I first noticed them in front or Wirth park, then they moved to in front of city hall.  Now they have their 'horizontal drilling rig' a couple blocks down the street from me.

Any idea of what is being installed?

Would that be Milwaukee TWC 988?

The DPC2100 is a docsis 2.0 modem, and only has one download and one upload channel.  (correct me if I am wrong on the number of channels).  A docsis 3.0 8x4 modem such as the motorola/arris SB6141 spreads your data over a number of channels and *can* give you more stable transfer rates.  

But no guarantees.

Getting 17.7/1.2 on my 15/1 service.

Noticed the guide change and the indication of what is set to record.  Haven't played with anything else yet (my wife controls the TV most of the day so can't comment on any change in speed or feel.

Much better off having the modem and router separate.  If nothing else, that way you can update one without having to buy both.

Own my own SB6141.  Modem cost me about $60 and saves me $6 a month.

Now 8 x 4 in Brookfield.

Those of you in the Milwaukee area with a TV connected to a DTA....

Is Food Channel (ch 66 and ch 151) still working for you?  

As of a a few days ago, we no longer were able to get Food on either 66 or 151.  Called TWC and the rep rebooted/reconfigured the DTA twice, and still no ch 66.  Opening the DTA menu/channel list has 66 dimmed out.  

Connected a TV directly to the cable and let it scan.  Determined that ch 66 was still there as an analog signal.  

TWC rep said she would set up a CT(?) scan, and if it still wasn't working by Thursday to call back in.

I enthusiastically recommend these guys and an "Iron Curtain".  We had one for years when we had the well with a high iron content and it did the job perfectly with no maintenance - and it does not use any chemicals.

Can't speak for an 'all in one', but I can tell you that iron will quickly kill a standard water softener.  If you have significant iron or sulfur products in the water, you really do want that iron filter ahead of a softener.
