Thanks for the reply and the advice.

Yes, that is the correct model number.

I am using the HDMI connection.

I cannot reproduce the issue on command. It just randomly happens during playback. A full reboot will fix the issue for a while but it will eventually come back.

As for frequency, it seems to happen at least once or twice per night.

Last night I did find what I think is a short term fix.  If it starts happening, I just start rewinding the show and then hit play again and the issue seems cured.  I only got to try it once, so I am not sure if it is an all-time fix.

I do have a DSLReports login.  I will try to post the problem over there.

Thanks again,
Paul in Racine

I only recently traded my old SA HD-DVR back to TWC to get the Samsung version with the larger hdd.

Besides the navigator being slower, the most annoying thing about the new box is that sometimes during playback it starts to go into slow motion.  Sometimes it will fix itself, sometimes I have to stop playback/exit/restart the show.  Sometimes that won't even fix it.

Anyone have this issue besides me?

Milwaukee HDTV Equipment / Thank You
Thursday Aug 12, 2010, 08:16:23 AM
Thank you very much klwillis45, Tivoman44, and kevbeck122.

Your information is top notch and greatly appreciated.  I learned more in a few posts then I would have from hours of web searches.

Though the list posting has slowed down as of late, the quality is very high!

Thanks,

Milwaukee HDTV Equipment / Options w/o renting another TWC box

Interesting.

Do I have to get the box from TWC?

For some reason I thought that Tivo boxes were an alternative.

Milwaukee HDTV Equipment / Options w/o renting another TWC box

I probably have not looked into this enough but I thought I would throw this out to the knowledgeable people here at HDTV-Milwaukee.

I have cable from TWC and on my one HDTV I have their SA cable box.  I have one of their digital packages that includes most digital channels that are not movie channel packages.   I would like to get more than basic (channels 2-99) on some of my other TVs that don't currently have boxes but I don't want to rent anything from TWC.

What are my options? I am interested in HD and non-HD solutions.

Milwaukee HDTV Programming / TMJ4 Going HD... like in hours?

Gotta give it up for Susan Kim, she looks good in any definition.  Vince looks like a deer in headlights.

Thanks for the reply Jack.

I hope you're right about it being a "free" HD channel.   Wouldn't mind seeing "A Bridge Too Far" in HD.

General (Non-HDTV) Milwaukee TV / MGMHD test
Monday Nov 17, 2008, 09:09:09 AM
I think that MGMHD is now on 1844.  Can't view it but doesn't TWC test out channels in the 1800 range before deploying them?

Since it is the replacement for MOJO does that mean it won't be part of their "free" HD channel lineup that they brag about?

Unfortunately channel 96 for Time Warner South (includes Racine) shows nothing but infomercials.  I recorded the same Girls Gone Wild spot about 75 times over the two hours that I dvr'd.

Speaking of horror does anyone think that maybe Fangoria TV or Monster HD (formerly of VOOM) will be offered by TWC?

That would be very cool by me.  I would even be willing to pay for it (the magic words to TWC).

Thoughts?

Neilium,

Thank you very much for the info.  I have visited the 2nd and 3rd link but it was the 1st link that I lacked.  I will try to DVR the next show to see if my channel 96 is really MATA.

Have you ever seen the show?

Anyone know if  "Dr. Destruction's Crimson Theater" is shown on Time-Warner cable in Racine? Supposedly it can be seen on channel 96 but I am kinda unclear about when it is on or if it is on.

Has anyone ever seen this?

Thanks,

Milwaukee HDTV Technical Issues / TWC HD-DVR Patch Yet?
Tuesday Jan 25, 2005, 04:28:50 PM
It will be during both but much more during live shows.

I have had the service guys out and they swear I have great signal strength.  They have replaced almost every wire from the cable box on the outside of my house, on in.

I was told that the problem was with the HD box but was also told that they would not be informing me of when the software fix was applied.  I am still having the problem yet I read that others have rock solid picture and sound using the HD-DVR box like I have.

So I was just wondering if anybody knew if the "patch" had already been deployed and this therefore was as good as it was gonna get.

BTW, I tried the trick of pausing the show for a few seconds, I guess thereby buffering the feed, but it doesn't really work for me.

Milwaukee HDTV Technical Issues / TWC HD-DVR Patch Yet?
Tuesday Jan 25, 2005, 12:43:28 PM
I posted last month about the video/audio problems I was having with my HD-DVR box from TWC and in the end I (think) that I found that the issue was with the software in the box.  Supposedly TW was going to apply some kind of patch remotely in the near future.

I am still having these annoying problems on my HD channels and wondered if anyone knew for a fact that the patch had or had not been applied yet.

My Wife made me turn "Medium" to the analog channel because she was getting tired of the pixelation and dropouts.  This sucks!

Milwaukee HDTV Technical Issues / TWC HD reception
Monday Dec 13, 2004, 04:46:18 PM
John, it sounds like you have it worse off than me!  An eight-way splitter.  What kind of dB drop are each of the outputs?

As an update, the problem has seemed to minimize this past weekend but not disappeared.  I asked TWC if they were gonna inform people with problems when the patch was implemented and they said no.  I thought that it was strange that they wouldn't use people with know problems as a way of getting feedback.

Do people without splitters, that use the HD-DVR, seem to have this problem?  If they do I am amazed that more people aren't complaining about it.

Milwaukee HDTV Technical Issues / TWC HD reception

Just got off the phone with TWC Cust. Service.

I will be getting a $20 credit for my troubles.

Supposedly the problem is with the software in the converter.  They are working on getting a patch that will fix my freezing an pixelling.

If it is a software problem,  why isn't everyone with a HDDVR having this problem?
