Milwaukee HDTV Technical Issues / Stations
Tuesday Sep 06, 2016, 09:26:41 AM
I live in Oconomowoc. Have a two bay Bow Tie antenna. Used a reverse pole mount in garage. So it is inside garage. Mounted in the peak. It has a channel master amp on it. I get Milwaukee some Chicago and Madison.  79 channels! Used on the Hopper 3 from Dish with a USB OTA dongle. To be honest most channels are duplicits. But the sub channels are cool. Most dups are 3 ABC, 3 CBS ,3 NBC,  3 CW and so on.

cost of parts is about $15. All you need is a soldering iron, solder. and a screwdriver. Start with the ones/caps were the top looks blown out like jiffy pop popcorn. you can also buy a rebuilt or new power supply on line. try "shop Jimmy" he takes returns just incase your wrong. :)

Milwaukee HDTV Programming / HD Channels
Sunday Apr 19, 2015, 08:32:18 AM
To get all there HD channels you need to pay. I would suggest if your TV has a built in HD tuner. And it should? Use a indoor ant. Oakcreek should be close enough to get everything. I live in Oconomowoc. Have a good ant in my garage rafters. I get 52 OTA HD stations. My pay TV is Dish. Love the Hopper! Good luck

Milwaukee HDTV Programming / Dsl

I would say as far as a tech coming out. Maybe? Also try Milwaukee PC. If you need a tech out that often you have other problems. I have had DSL and cable. But for the most part cable. Other then installation, I have never had a tech out. Since 1998. So if you feel a need to call for help try utube there are video's on how to trouble shoot stuff. JMO. Also IMO DSL sucks sucks! Cable is faster, better! Good luck. :)

Milwaukee HDTV Equipment / Hopper
Tuesday Feb 11, 2014, 10:18:39 AM
I have Dish now. Have 2 VIP722K's with OTA tuners. I am having 2 Hoppers with Sling installed with two Joeys on the 22nd of Feb. Only cost was two USB OTA tuners about $60. Upgrade was free. But of course 24 month commitment.  I will post back later. Been watchin Utube stuff on the Hopper. But it all seems a bit slanted. But that's ok I guess. Has a 2 TB drive. apps. on the go video. PTAT, Prime Time Any Time. You can turn this off if you want. But I still like the major networks> It will record ABC, NBC,CBS and FOX. Every night from 7 to 10. After 24 hours you can use auto hop which skips all commercials. That PTAT is how they can say record 6 things at once. With out PTAT it's really 4 max. Of course they have a new Super Joey coming out in the next 3 months adds two tuners. There is also virtual Joeys which  I will not use That is a app in place of a piece of hardware. Can be loaded on a PS3/4, xbox 360 or one. Smart tv  and so on. Very cool. My bill will go down a bout 15.00 a month so not to bad. Now to see how it works. :){cheers}

Milwaukee HDTV Equipment / Yes

I drive all day I am a service tech for a company that is all over. After I started looking into this I stopped by a few installers and picked there brain.One of the guys showed me the back of his truck had like 16 HR44's said that's all he carry's now. In my instance I have asked for a Gene another DVR plus two clients. My daughter uses way to many tuners. that would give my 7 total. So I am going with a HR44 and a HR24. The unknown is some of the installers can setup wireless to the clients which is very cool. If you already have coax to the rooms it really does not matter. I was told when the installer calls to say he is on the way ask him if he has a HR44 on the truck if he says no , reschedule. I had a install setup bad experience. Guy looked for every way not to make it work. I have it rescheduled for the 14th. Advace would be set it up for the 8 to 12. if it's late it could cause problems. My guy was 12 to 4 and he got there at 3:15 was gone by 5. all he did was make hole in my roof and was unable to find a line of site. My option is he bailed. Too late in the day. Good luck.
