Milwaukee HDTV Programming / WIWN 68, is it still on?
Sunday Jul 27, 2014, 11:40:17 AM
Now that the weather is gone (for the most part) I find the channel more useless now. Might as well turn it off.

Milwaukee HDTV Programming / WVTV to get movie subchannel
Friday Jun 27, 2014, 12:06:18 PM
Quote from: Tivoman44;59984A movie channel wouldn't be the worst thing, whether it's older movies or not.  I think it's better than a weather, cooking, or music channel.  Maybe a sports channel would be better, to air brewer games.

Brewers Games? That ship has sailed due to the greediness of the Bucks & Brewers organizations to go cable only and keep the commercial revenue to themselves. Besides, I wouldn't want to see a sports sub-channel OTA anyway (probably wouldn't be HD). Since we pay tax dollars for Miller Park all the games should be made available OTA on the main HD channel..........

Milwaukee HDTV Equipment / HDTV Low Power Station Equipment
Tuesday Mar 11, 2014, 07:09:29 PM
Quote from: mike31z;59871Brew thanks for you comments.

on 1 sep 2014 all tv must be HD. low or high power.

I only need real low power system in a new transmission market and maybe a 30 ft antenna max to reach my market 3/4 miles. A lot of previous RV user were accustom to seeing the results at different state trap events in their RV (campers) on analog TV.

Now we must be HD.

The sellers of DTV equipment are just not advertising, period.

There is a void in the really low power broadcast equipment on the internet websites and the turnaround for a new license is even less then desireable.

Mike P

Low powers need to be all digital. HD or SD is the users choice....

It would be cheaper to setup a wi-fi system and just stream the content.

Milwaukee HDTV Programming / Time Warner/TM4 carriage dispute
Wednesday Jul 31, 2013, 12:30:41 PM
Quote from: ArgMeMatey;59526No cable customer or cable company is going to disagree with that.  But no OTA station owner would agree.

A better argument would be one that no rational person could disagree with.  I haven't heard that one yet.

Same holds true for most cable channels, way too many commercials, and they get paid per subscriber. Really not worth it...

Milwaukee HDTV Programming / Time Warner/TM4 carriage dispute

Since all three WTMJ channels have been dropped on TWC, now would be a good time to call TWC and re-negotiate your monthly bill. Why pay for something you're not getting....... Oh wait I crack myself up! ROTFLOL! Like they would ever "Lower" your bill. :rof:

Latest News / World's First 4K TV Channel Goes Live
Saturday Feb 16, 2013, 09:07:21 PM
Quote from: SRW1000;59184By the way, we still do have one local that broadcasts 1080i without any subchannels, and that would be the WB on WVTV.  :award

It's been The CW since 2006. :huh?:

Milwaukee HDTV Technical Issues / WMVS subchannel duplication?
Thursday Aug 16, 2012, 01:19:54 PM
I guess this would be asking too much.......

How about making 10-11 (on RF-36) a single 1080i HD channel with no subchannels?
and leave RF-8 as it is.

Latest News / New OTA station?

Quote from: PONIES;58790Because I'm too lazy to re-adjust my antenna to point towards Milwaukee.

And goodbye to you as well, sir.

If you have a problem with the users of a website called MilwaukeeHDTV expecting their affiliates to broadcast in HD, then you clearly don't belong here in the first place.

So if your antenna doesn't point at Milwaukee why bother with a MilwaukeeHDTV forum?

I seem to recall you getting booted off of this forum........

Quote from: Jack 1000;58689I hope WISN ratings tank because of this!  And they will!  The longer they hold out, more and more viewers will dump them and that means less revenue for them!

Greedy corporations like, Hearst, who want a 300% rate increase!  Get real and play fair, than negotiations can continue at a price and options that customers can afford.  We should not even have to pay for for channels available for free over the air.  Television used to be a public trust, not anymore.

Jack

What we don't know is 300% of "what"?
A penny? 10 cents? 20 cents? I really don't think they're getting what TWC shells out for ESPN (around $4 per sub) a channel I pay for but NEVER watch.

Dish Network - Without Locals. Gee I still get WISN!

FYI - all corporations are greedy. That's what keeps them in business. Who ends up with less money.....you do. It all comes down to choices. Either switch providers, put up an antenna to supplement your existing provider (when this crap happens), or read a good e-book. Will WISN's ratings tank? Maybe/maybe not. Perhaps they'll do an antenna giveaway...................for those who are suffering.

Quote from: PONIES;58557Well, I hope Time Warner gets rid of them. It is absolutely ridiculous that free OTA channels can charge cable companies fees for carriage. I receive WISN via an antenna anyways alongside my TWC. For some reason I get a lot of errors on WISN on TWC.

WISN-TV is nothing more than a useless middle man in between me and ABC anyways. An annoying middleman that likes to add their own bug next to the ABC logo (no other affiliates do this), and stupid weather warnings and temperature bugs from time to time.

If Time Warner is going to pay to carry anything it shouldn't be an affiliate. If only they could negotiate to carry the same ABC feed WISN gets direct from the Galaxy 16 satellite and cut out the middleman...

Only the clueless wouldn't understand what is going on.........

Company "A" (Hearst) offers a product for free and owns the copyright for the product.

Company "B" (TWC) picks up the product that is offered for free and then re-sells it to it's customers for a fee. The fee they collect is called "profit" from the services Company "B" provides. Packaging & Delivery of TV signals (including free over the air signals)

Since Company "B" (TWC) doesn't "own" the product are they distributing for a profit (even though it's offered through the owners distribution method for free) they "can" be required to compensate Company "A'" for the right to re-sell Companies "A's" product.

PONIES - When you go into business and offer your product for free please contact me so I can take your product and re-sell it for a profit.........cause you think it's ok to do that. :bang:

Latest News / Finally! WMLW in HD Coming to TWC! (In March)
Thursday Feb 23, 2012, 08:16:29 PM
Now no Brewers on WMLW?

A requirement for a professional sports franchise whose stadium they play in is subsidized by TAX DOLLARS should have all or most of their games available for free over the air!

More reasons to stop supporting this greedy nonsense.
