I've made the decision that it's time to wind things down here.  There has been very little activity here in quite a long time now that we're over 10 years past the DTV transition.  The domain comes up for renewal in February,  I will renew it for one more year.  I've already disabled registrations for new users, most of it over the past couple years has been spam bots anyway.   In February 2026, this site will fade into the sunset, just one year shy of it's 25th anniversary.

Thank you everyone for your contributions over the past 20+ years

Bob

ATSC 3.0 / Re: New Board
Tuesday Sep 24, 2024, 09:48:51 PM
While I'm a Milwaukee native (hence why I'm here), I live in Nashville now, all 4 network affiliates are currently at least listed as broadcasting in ATSC 3.0.  I don't have a TV capable, so I can't verify this.

ATSC 3.0 / New Board
Tuesday Sep 24, 2024, 08:15:40 PM
Probably long overdue, finally adding a board for all things ATSC 3.0.  If there is enough volume, I may move this to it's own category.

General Forum Announcements / Possible Forum Sunset

Things continue to be very quiet here.   I've made the decision to disable registrations. For the past year or so, possibly more, all the registrations have been spam bots,  as you may of seen times when there was a large amount of spam posts here as well, which I've removed as soon as I saw them.  I will keep things going at least for the foreseeable future, and won't be making the forums read only.  With disabling new user registrations this should keep the volume of spam down.

General Forum Announcements / Forums Sunset Date?
Saturday Feb 24, 2024, 10:59:45 PM
The milwaukeehdtv.org domain comes up for renewal in a few weeks, while I will be renewing it, at least for another year or two, I've been thinking if this is needed anymore.   We're way past the HDTV conversion, the only other thing of any relevance is ATSC 3.0.  I had a thought of making most, if not all boards read only to preserve this moment it Milwaukee's history.   What are your thoughts?   Is there any ideas people have to get some more life here, or is it time to just let it fade away?

Thanks for your feedback!

General Forum Announcements / Quiet Times
Monday Aug 15, 2022, 10:19:06 PM
Well, we're now 12 years into the DTV transition, thigs here have been very very quiet, except for a recent spam attack.   Is there anything missing here, new topics that could be added perhaps?

I'm beginning to thing this forums time has past, but I'd like to keep things going.   I'm open to any ideas.

Hello All,

Sorry about the recent flood of spam.   The user has been banned, and their IP has been blocked, I'm going through now and deleting all the messages, there is a lot so it's taking awhile.

General Forum Announcements / Site Outage 7/4/20-7/20/20
Sunday Jul 05, 2020, 06:54:24 PM
If you tried to access the site anytime in the past day, you likely encountered an error.  DreamHost, the company that hosts this site had a hardware failure on the machine that this site resides on.  It took them the better part of the last 24 hours to rebuild the machine ans restore it from backups.  The issue was resolved by around 4pm CT, but issues continued with my account.  When I realized there was still issues I alerted their support staff, who were finally able to get things back up and running.

I do apologize for this, and will be better at making my own backups of my sites should issues like this happen again.

Well, it seems a year has gone by and not much has changed.   Anyone still out there?

Quote from: techguy1975 on Monday Jun 03, 2019, 10:14:35 PMAs I'm sure everyone has noticed, things have been very quiet here.  I suppose it's somewhat to be expected, since the DTV transition has come and gone.  Even though it is quiet, I have no intention of shutting things down.

I do welcome any thoughts, ideas, suggestions, etc people may have however on how to liven things up though.  It would still be nice to see more activity here.

Latest News / Post Rescan Changes
Wednesday Oct 16, 2019, 09:43:04 PM
Once the re-pack is done on the 18th,  post any changes you've seen here.  Channels you used to have but lost, increases/decreases in signal strength etc

Quote from: Riktar on Wednesday Oct 16, 2019, 06:59:18 AMHas anyone heard what time on the 18th the channels will switch?

IE: Witi at 7am, TMJ at noon, etc.

Or should I just tell the wife to stay on Netflix til I get home from work? ;-)

I'd recommend telling her to stay on Netflix.   If I had to venture a guess,  I'd say they would probably do the switch overnight, so a re-scan in the morning would probably be good
