Milwaukee HDTV Programming / TMJ4 Preps for HD I THINK?
Wednesday Aug 13, 2008, 06:32:37 PM
After the Olympics the cameras could end up as "B Stock" on Sony's website. I remember going on there about a year ago and they still had stuff from the 2006 Winter Olympics for sale.

I assume so.

And has anyone noticed how clear and sharp WITI's studio video has been lately? The color and clarity is much better than it has been before.

WLUK produces the show. So, no, it won't be in HD.

Also, WITI's field cameras are switchable between 4:3 and 16:9 SD.

On/Off Topic Chit-Chat / technical question

I recently purchased a x4 "digital ready" splitter in order to have my TV, VCR and USB tuner connected at the same time. Now the USB tuner won't get a signal for any of the DTV channels, even though it worked before the splitter was added. The analog channels still work on the analog TV and on the USB tuner.

I'm guessing this is because the line coming in is split in 3 in the basement, and then split again in this room. Do I need to buy a amplifier to get the DTV channels to work in here again?

Quote from: LoadStar;47382Third up would be WITI, who just retrofitted their main studio and added a brand new studio from scratch, one that is HD ready I'd presume. Still, HD is more than just a set - it's the cameras and everything in the control room. Dunno how much of that was upgraded - I have a faint memory that WITI also upgraded their control room, or at least the switchboard, not too long ago as well.

They replaced their switcher and Chyron a week or so before they started using the FOX O&O graphics.

Quote(I know! It's Sinclair - they're bringing back a newscast on WVTV!!! ;))
Close! It's WPXE! They're launching a HD Newscast called Ion Milwaukee (get it? Eye-on Milwaukee? :D).

Quote from: js6751;47342Ahhh, soon. My favorite word. Come on, we promise we won't tell anyone;) ! Can you tell us if it will be this month at all (august)? I just read that the NBC station in Richmond, VA just went HD (and they're #59 DMA:eek: )!

Mmmmm, Ok. It will reportedly happen this month unless some stuff doesn't get worked out.

Quote from: js6751;47321Can you elaborate at all?
I rather not. ;)

Quote from: Bluto;47322I'd be thrilled if that is true.  What's the timeline?
Supposedly, soon.

Edit:
Quote from: Tom Snyder;473234, 12 and 58 have all indicated Q1 2009.
I've always thought WDJT would be last to go HD. Now that I think about it, they have so little stuff (one live truck, two studio cameras, no actual set) that it would be very easy for them to go HD.

Quote from: Bluto;47292"And just in case you're wondering, there are no Milwaukee newscasts ready to take the plunge into the ultra-sharp world of high-definition broadcasting.

I've been told differently. :D
