On/Off Topic Chit-Chat / Whats going up?

Thanks Sean, the "gin pole" was going to be my next question.

It sure is fascinating watching someone hanging off the array tightening bolts.

Well now it's what's gone up.  Another new element has magically appeared today.  This one is on the top of the one vacant space on the candelabra.

If these are for Sinclair, wouldn't the elements be mounted on their own tower(wcgv?)
and avoid having to pay rent on another tower?

Can you tell what kind of antenna is it? TV, FM, communication?

From my vantage point the new antenna looks to be about 2/3 of the size of the stick above it.  That would lead me to believe it's a lower power setup.

From my office I have a clear view of all the TV towers, (well actually I have to stand up and look further to the left for Lincoln park) anyway, Today I noticed a new antenna hanging off the community tower.

Couldn't see it yesterday due to the fog.  Anyone have an idea of who's antenna this may be?

Milwaukee HDTV Programming / Cable vs. OTA

The problem OTA will run into in the years to come is when all the other stations (TBS, TNN, ESPN, etc)... go HD. If you are OTA, you will only be getting 10+ channels vs cable you may have 50 in HD

Isn't this the same situation we're in now?

I really believe that this is the same situation encountered in the 60's when my dad complained about having to get a STB to watch a part time channel 19,  because they played movies he really liked.

While I haven't taken the HDTV plunge yet, ( still haven't convinced mgmnt our 3 yr old panny is "almost" out of date) I put up an OTA antenna and rotor just so I could get a better picture here in the city.

BTW, I've been a luker for a while now and have greatly enjoyed the civil conversations and the information passed on.  Thank you!
