Milwaukee HDTV Programming / High Speed Internet
Sunday Jun 08, 2014, 07:31:46 PM
Someday I may drop TWC myself and rather than get cable or satellite I will use the antenna to get all the local channels and something that can provide me with High Speed broadband Internet so I can use my ROKU player to watch movies, dishworld, and most other channels to watch even local news from TV stations in big cities across the USA.

I only wish that FSN could be seen via the ROKU player so I can watch Brewers and Bucks games.  Maybe if a lot more people dropped cable and satellite, perhaps some Brewer and Bucks games might comeback to OTA. Or maybe FSN could make an agreement with a station like WITI and air FSN on 6-3.  Course, unfortunately that would cut into WITI  HD bandwidth if they did that.

Milwaukee HDTV Equipment / HDTV Low Power Station Equipment
Sunday Apr 13, 2014, 09:42:51 PM
To air slides and videos automatically on a 24 hr/ 7 days per week with just only 1 person operating your TV station, Leightronix, Inc. in Michigan has could help you there. Check their website //www.leightronix.com

I have used their Ultra-Nexus model for programming a community cable access station.  It only takes one person to program it to air and schedule several videos and slides 24 hrs per day 7 days per week.

Latest News / WITI to be Sold to the Tribune Company
Tuesday Jul 02, 2013, 02:33:18 PM
WITI seems to be the only station in Milwaukee that is always going thru different ownerships.  I don't expect any changes to the station, I'm sure they will continue with FOX. The only thing that COULD or MIGHT change would be its traditional call letters. But I doubt that will happen.

to actually buy a new TV, first time in17 years.  Its not that the old analog TV is broke, I finally decide I am gonna replace it and its gonna end up being re-cycled while I enjoy my new 47" HDTV LED 1080p from HHGregg who will deliver it Friday and take away the old analog 19".

I've been on this board for a longtime and I feel I am the ONLY person left without any upgrading. I am sure EVERYONE else here has had a HDTV long before the local stations turned off their analog transmitters.

So has WVTV/WCGV complete their move to the NW side of Milwaukee?

Milwaukee HDTV Technical Issues / Is TWC Bad?
Saturday Dec 29, 2012, 04:08:16 PM
It appears from many of the posts that TWC is NOT the recommended cable service.   Seem to me most people on these forum have problems with TWC.  I've been happy with TWC also getting Phone, and RR.

If I remember right, didn't the studio on 35th & Capitol suffer from some flooding a few summers ago causing some equipment damage???   Hopefully you won't have that problem in the new facility.

Sorry for being way out of touch.  I happened to tune onto channel 18 and noticed a non-network, syndicated program on HD!!!  So, trying to log onto HDTV forum I notice I didn't have it on my new laptop, which means I haven't logged on here in quite some time.

So whats this about a new facility????  I take it channels 18 and 24 are moving out of the building on 35th & Capitol?

I've been away and have been going thru major changes in life that past 2 years, thus out of touch with the TV and radio as of late, but now trying to get back into it.

The link above indicates that upgrades are in process.
However, based on the events of July 2010 a location to put the upgrades into is a work in progress as well.

Thanks JimBoy...will keep watching both WVTV and WCGV and perhaps one of these days will be in for a surprise!:)

Chs 4, 6, 10, 12, and 58 are offering syndicated and locally produced programs all in HD. I never seeing any of that on both WVTV and WCGV. The only HD is when they air network programs directly off the network.

Both stations air movies on weekends. I am sure those movies, at least some of them are available to stations in HD providing they broadcast it in HD.

I see JimBoy responded with a link, in which I see nothing in the link in regards to the Sinclair O&O stations airing syndicated and local HD programming.

When will we see off-network and/or syndicated programs in HD?

The only HD I see from WVTV and WCGV are strictly off live feed network, mainly 7-9 pm weeknights.  This would mean upgrading studio equipment to air such programming in HD.

Milwaukee HDTV Programming / 49.1

They seem to be broadcasting at a lower power than before because now I either can't or its very tough to receive them on my handheld DTV.

Quote from: Xizer;55739That's dumb. Why would they want to lower their power and make it harder for people to receive their channel? :bang:

It depends on what changes they are making to the antenna I guess. I can see if they increase the height of the antenna that the FCC may tell them to lower the power to protect another DTV ch. 18 somewhere in the mid-west.  I don't know of any other nearby ch. 18 DTV operations other than maybe a analog LPTV in Chicago on ch. 18 but being a LPTV it doesn't require any protection.  Low Power TV transmitters are not protected, only high power transmissions.

Quote from: Jimboy;55704Yes...that is correct sir! Tower crew, new antenna, RF system, hopefully completed by the end of July.

I took notice in the latest issue  June VUD that WVTV applied to the FCC to lower its power from 1000k to 750k.

Milwaukee HDTV Programming / WIAA in HD!

Yeah, unless WVTV CW18 or WCGV My24 would carry it, they air it in HD. But otherwise it does suck!
