Tom-

Thanks for the forum!  I'm not a TV guy, but I look forward to lurking!

Always happy to help you guys... the engineers are the least appreciated people in the whole chain that brings us broadtacst sounds and sight. You guys don't get the celebrity recognition that the on air people and management get, but are so important. When I was in radio (both on air and management), I would have been dead in the water without guys like extertise of guys like Dave Janzer, Terry Baun, Frank Lorbiecki and Ernie our engieer at WZTR back in the day...

While most of the questions here from the group will probably be TV-related, we want this area to be a civil and a safe place for all engineers and all engineering related questions.... even HD radio. ;)

Administrators of this forum should contact the chief engineers of the local TV stations to encourage them to post any news regarding any DTV changes. Right now we have one from WCGV/WVTV and another from WITI. Jim Hall from WDJT used to post here and I haven't seen anything posted here in a longtime. Same goes with WTMJ-TV. I have never seen anyone from WMVS/WMVT, WISN, and WVCY.

Our site has been here now for 6 years, and over the years, we've extended offers to all of them, directly when we have their contact info, and through the GM's. Jim Hall hasn't been here in awhile, but one of his engineers drops in from time to time. One of our guys knows a 12 engineer who doesn't post here, but funnels info to us through him. Sean O'Flaherty was the designated contact at WTMJ until he became dog prey outside the station one night.... we think he's gone now.

We believe that all the CE's from the local TV stations Society of Broadcast Engineer members. So we're hoping that they can spread the word internally, and have better luck than we have had. :)
