Milwaukee HDTV Programming / An Idea for State Fair
Wednesday May 28, 2003, 05:52:16 PM
Surely I will buy a t-shirt.  If there will be something about HDTV there, count me in. The only reason I would goto State Fair. It will be nice to meet Todd or anyone there.

Milwaukee HDTV Programming / An Idea for State Fair
Tuesday May 27, 2003, 09:38:29 PM
With the Wisconsin State Fair coming up in August are they going to do the HDTV demonstration again like they did last year???

By that time Milwaukee should have WMVT-DT ch. 35 on the air and they plan to strictly offer High Definition Programming 24 hours a day, and no regular uplink, strictly all hi-def.  This way at the demonstration they could have a TV there tuned to WMVT-DT at all times and everyone would be able to see true Hi-Def.

Administration and Suggestions / Station section
Saturday May 03, 2003, 09:05:14 AM
I'm looking forward to seeing that. Unfortunately all this time until Brew City News made their announcement of discontinuing that I was unaware of a website devouted to Milwaukee TV on stations and programming in general.  I would have been an active participant in message discussion.  I'm sure I missed a lot there. Hope those active people involved in the site will be aware of its come back.  This is a good place to put it, since TV stations today are concentrating on upgrading to HDTV and working on implementing that to replace the age old analog system that we are used to.  Analog will be gone in 3 years but surely programming and TV stations offerings and news about the stations will always continue when they go completely Hi-Def. Thou I think for the next few years you will see TV stations will be spending a lot less money on programming and concentrate their finances to upgrading to digital.

I have a compilation of TV history of myself and willing to share it.

Milwaukee HDTV Technical Issues / Noticed on WVTV & WCGV
Thursday May 01, 2003, 04:59:27 PM
I wonder if WVTV/WCGV are currently working on upgrading their studio for HDTV.  I heard that WVTV is looking to hire News staff, which means they probably are planning to televise a daily news program.

Milwaukee HDTV Programming / Green Bay Packers in HD ??

I guess it wouldn't matter since Faux-6 puts out a low power signal that nobody can receive.

WTMJ-TV and DT will carry the games listed as either "State" or "ESPN".

On/Off Topic Chit-Chat / WTPX-DT in Antigo
Wednesday Apr 02, 2003, 06:30:25 PM
Not sure if anyone is aware that Antigo has a TV station.  It is STRICTLY a DTV station.  They opt not to bother signing on as analog since its on the way out.  Instead they already signed on the air at 46-1.  I have no idea if they are a network station, or independent.  I understand that it is a low power TV station. The TV News editor for the "UHF-VHF Digest" published by the World TV FM DX Association commented "I would not be surprised if there are no DTV receivers within WTPX's coverage area."

I personally think that if there are subdivisions growing in or near Antigo, especially new houses...I'm sure some of those people will own a HDTV set.

I suggest 58 to purchase channels 41 and 63 each their own LPDTV transmitter.

I sell stuff on eBay too.  If someone isn't happy I will be happy to refund their money PROVIDING that they ship the item back in the same condition, plus I will also pay for their shipping it back to me.

Milwaukee HDTV Programming / 18 & 24 in HD
Wednesday Mar 26, 2003, 06:49:36 PM
If anyone is looking for answers to what 18 & 24 are doing why not phone them yourself at 442-7050 and ask for Program Director if this in regards to programming, or a Engineer concerning info regarding their DTV equipment?

I am sure if you ask the right people they would be more than happy to answer your questions. When WVTV was owned by Gaylord Broadcasting during the mid 80s I use to call them up and talk personally with the engineer regarding upgrades and at the time they increase power and added stereo. The gentleman I talked to was friendly. I'm not sure about today as I assume with being a Sinclair station it isn't the same staff when it was Gaylord.

If anyone does phone them and finds out further info regarding HDTV broadcasts, please feel free to share it with us here.

I have to agree with Kevin.  I doubt that WVTV will actually air it in 1080i or whatever.  Like Joseph S. has indicated that they will be upconvert for awhile.  They are just happy to get some sort of digital signal on the air as required per FCC rules.  Many stations don't have any money to put in all the necessary equipment to fully go HD. So it could be a few years yet.

I don't receive HDTV yet either, so I have to rely on what I read here.  Someday I will get a HDTV set, don't worry.  In fact my future TV buying,  I won't have any other choice other then purchase a DTV set.  By the time my TV dies there shouldn't be any new Analog TV set in the market, though I am sure there will be lots of Analog TVs on eBay people selling them only as "TV does work, but cannot get any stations anymore do to fact they all went off the air in 2006.  Great Antique item!"  or "Great for paperweight or doorstoppers."

Seriously, I know I am missing something.  I should get back to getting a PC HDTV card.  I just want to make sure I get the right type of TV card.  I've seen some that look like an HDTV card, but in most cases it turns out to be a analog PC card.  I want a digital receiver to receive hi-def TV signals.

>I can't seem to recall the digital station numbers for 18 and 24?
 >What I mean is like NBC is 28, ABC is 34 etc. Can someone
>refresh my memory? I've looked on several sites and can't seem

18 should be on ch. 61, 24 should be on ch. 25.

Milwaukee HDTV Programming / Local Channels 18 & 24
Saturday Feb 15, 2003, 08:03:46 PM
I noticed today as I make my rare trip through downtown Milwaukee on I-43 going from south to the north is a tower that has 3 antennas on the top in a triangular shape next to teh old MATC tower were Ch. 10, 18 & 36 used to be analog wise.  But next to it is this black tower with 3 antennas, I asumed it is the new ch. 10, along with ch. 8 and perhaps 36 tower. Are you saying that the antennas are likely to be of ch. 61 (18) and 25 (24)???

Like I said its one of my rare trips from the south to north side via I-43, I-94. I might travel that way 2 times a year at the most. I did notice some new and different towers and set up in and around the antenna farm while viewing it from I-43.

Interesting!
