OTA Signal in Mequon

i live in mequon. i'd like to ditch TWC and just use OTA signal, but i can't pick up any channels other than PBS.  am i just in a bad spot?

You should easily be able to pick up all signals in Mequon. Could be a problem with the antenna you are using - can you provide more information on that?

Just a guess, but isn't PBS the only area channel using VHF (I'm going off knowledge from a few years ago...maybe that changed)?  If that's all you're picking up now, maybe you have a VHF only antenna?

Before buying anything, you may want to see if anyone you know has a small portable VHF/UHF antenna, just do to a quick scan, and see what you get.  Even if things break up a bit, getting them at all is the first step.  If you get that far, then you could invest some money into a decent antenna and know you'll pick up all the channels you want.

i have the sony KDL-40V2500, one of the first gen 1080p tv.

i'm baffled as to why i'm only getting 10.1, 10.3, 10.4 OTA.  i tried it with a different antenna, GE 24700, with the same results.

help anyone? i'm in mequon in a heavily wooded place.

When you scan for channels are you scanning in "Antenna / Off Air" mode or "Cable" mode?

Good news! Your Sony KDL-40V2500 television has both ATSC and QAM tuners so you will be able to receive both over-the-air digital and cable digital programming without a digital tuner or a converter box.


If it's in QAM mode and you try a scan with an antenna connected, good chance you'll only get 10-1 - 10-4.

problem solved.  my tv was in cable mode and was only picking up the Qam signals.  

thanks everyone! now i have to decide whether to save the $70/month by cutting TWC.
