On/Off Topic Chit-Chat / TWC Outage
Wednesday Sep 14, 2005, 12:01:46 AM
Anyone else affected?  All of my services are out (cable and roadrunner), and have been since around 6PM.  We don't have many outages.. but when they do occur it seems to go on for many hours.  Right across the street from me in Germantown everything is fine with TWC .

Anyone have any experience with it?.  It's the first LG CRT I've ever seen, so I don't know how good it is.  I would think it would be decent.. since I've never had any problems with their LCD panels (Dell and Apple displays).  The picture looked decent on Best Buy's HD feed (I think it was InHD on TWC).. but I just was wondering if there are any problems that may pop up later on in the TV's life?  My Sanyo is having tilting problems now, and there are so many problems associated with it, I don't want to get a replacement from them.

Milwaukee HDTV Technical Issues / HBO issues
Sunday Jul 24, 2005, 10:06:30 PM
Anyone else having issues with a few of the HBO channels?  A few hours ago I noticed that HBO1, 2 and Zone were just black (same with the west coast stations).  Now the HD channel is sorta locking up every minute or less with some pixelation.

Milwaukee HDTV Programming / DD5.1 and TWC
Tuesday Jul 19, 2005, 06:13:44 PM
I was just wondering what's all in DD?  Just certain HD channels at certain times?  I noticed that HBO HD was only sending a stereo/prologic II signal to my receiver (do they switch to DD during a movie?).  What about digital channels?  I've only seen stereo signals so far from them.  Sorry if this has been answered... I'm not in the mood for searching :D

Are any of the BBC channels available FTA?  Specifically I'm wondering about BBC2.

Does anyone else have a problem viewing the TWC guide while watching a 720p channel?  If I go into the guide on any of these channels (Fox, ESPN, ABC) my screen gets filled with random colors and the box either freezes and reboots itself or I have to reboot it myself.  It usually happens right when I go into the guide or once I start moving around.  I'm have a Pioneer 3510 box and it's hooked up to the TV using the DVI port, but I also saw this problem when using the component jacks.  I'd say this happens about 75% of the time when watching these channels.

On/Off Topic Chit-Chat / Fiber to the home

Anyone know if the Milwaukee area will see this anytime soon with SBC?  I've been reading about Verizon Fios and it sounds pretty nice.  15mbps down/2 up for $49.99 a month.  It also has the capability for IPTV.. another choice for HD content instead of cable or satellite.  I haven't seen much about SBC doing this, unless they're keeping quiet about it.

WinTV Go:

$50 for the WinTV-D
$20 for the WinTV Go

Both have been used for a very short period of time... maybe 5-10 hours at most.  They both worked fine when I pulled them out of the computer, and I imagine they still do.  Both have everything that came in the box, but you'll probably want to download new drivers rather than using the ones on the CD.  I just really never got into the DVR thing on the computer, so that's why I'm selling them.  I'd rather have a box like the SA8300 for my DVR than a tuner card on the computer.

Every so often (few minutes maybe), the picture stops, gets jarbled and starts back up between 5 and 10 seconds later.  It seems to keep doing this on and off tonight.  Anyone else having this problem?  I narrowed it down to these two channels since it doesn't seem to happen on any of the others for me.

Milwaukee HDTV Technical Issues / 3510 Rebooting Issues
Saturday Apr 02, 2005, 06:46:22 AM
It seems everytime I turn it off while watching an HD channel, it'll reboot after awhile.  I've never seen it reboot, but I'm almost positive it does since it's on channel 2 when I turn it on later (I have it set to last channel for power on channel).  I believe this started when I switched from component to DVI on the box, but it might have been happening less often when I was using components.

Also, I've noticed several times that while in the guide on an HD channel, the box will freeze, leave single colored garbage for a picture but I still hear audio.  Then it finally reboots after about a minute or two.  Is this a common problem, or should I try another box?

Milwaukee HDTV Technical Issues / TWC Weather Alert
Wednesday Mar 30, 2005, 03:59:44 PM
It's really irritating me.  First they do the little banner thing at the bottom when I turned my box on, which screwed my audio up.  Then they did the analog channel tornado alert about 5-10 minutes later which made all of my digital/hd channels get blocky/pixelated and knocked out my modem for RR.  Then they went back to the banner thing.  How many times do I need to be alerted that there's a tornado NOT in my area?  Anyone else having these issues?  I'm sure they have to do it, but I don't need to know three times that there's a tornado warning in Dodge county when I already knew 30 minutes earlier on the way home from work.
