Milwaukee HDTV Programming / NFL Films Presents Super Bowl XLV
Wednesday Feb 16, 2011, 10:02:38 AM
I caught this last night and enjoyed it a lot as a packer fan.  It was neat to hear Jennings in-game comments on what routes were open (and the hit TP gave him on his 1st TD pass).

But the best was Matthew's alerting the other players that the Steelers were going to run to his side on the forced fumble play.  Also the cat-and-mouse gaming that both sides were engaged in prior to the forced fumble - the Steelers talking about CM's tendencies and what to watch for vs CM and Green's discussion on changeing strategy.

I see that ESPN2 and the NFL Network are showing this 30 minute special throughtout the day.

Milwaukee HDTV Equipment / HDMI Switch Questions
Wednesday Oct 07, 2009, 12:14:44 PM
My AVR only has 2 HDMI ports and would like to add another component that only has HDMI out.  While I'd love to 'upgrade' the AVR, I'm pushing it with the new components already.  :D

Blue Jeans has this 2 in 1 out switch for $25.

It looks like the switch knows which input is active, but I can't tell.  I want to use this with a BD player and a HTPC.

Here are my questions:

1) I'm assuming that when the HTPC is 'on' it will always send a signal to the switch, regardless if it is serving content or not.  Can this switch handle that, or do I need another type of switch?

2) Is there any problem with the HDCP handshake between the BD Player and AVR?

In a perfect world I'd like a switch that doesn't need to be toggled, but if I need to toggle it, I'd prefer one with an IR switch that works with a Harmony remote.

Any comments and suggestions are welcome as I've never used a switch.

For those of use recording tonights game, I'm curious what channel you'll be recording:

- WISN OTA
- WISN via Provider (TWC, ATT, D*, E*, Comcast, or ?)
- ESPN
- Other

I usually try and record closest to the "source" - so I'm recording ESPN.

Milwaukee HDTV Programming / TWC Navigator Bashing on WSSP
Tuesday Apr 22, 2008, 07:46:58 PM
On the way home from work I flipped on WSSP.   Gary and Josh were killing some time waiting for the end of the Brewer game and Josh said he felt a little funny bringing this up, but he was having a lot of problems this last month with the new TWC interface.  Programs not recording, multiple time slots of the same show recording, etc.  Gary chimmed in with even more troubles.  Then they opned it up to the phones and people were bitch'n left and right.

Fortunately for TWC it was the bottom of the 12th and the Brewers finally ended the game.  I'm guessing they could have gone on for hours with this one.

Thank goodnes I have D*!

I have 2 large MPEG2 files (roughly 20 gig each) that I would like to split into 90+ smaller files.  Idealy, I'd like to compress them as AVI files so that I can easily store and stream them to the livingroom.

[Unecessary background information]My 3.5 yr old daughter loves the pbs curious george series.  They are 30 minutes long and have two ~12 minute episides packed in the middle of each show.  I have 47 different shows that I've saved on my DirecTv dvr.  Yesterday I used a capture card to save them to disk (took just about 24 consecutive hours of recording to get them all).  I spit the recording to two 20 gig files as I really didn't want to sit there for a whole day and record 94 seperate files. [/Unecessary background information]

I've tried Ultra Video Splitter with little sucess.  It splits the files to avi, but the audio is WAY out of synch.  I'm really a noob at this and any help is appreciated.

TIA

For those of us with the outdated HD DVD players, here's a great one day deal on the Plane Earth box set.  All 11 episodes for 29.95 and free shipping.  The listed web price is $79.95 and an additional $50 is discounted at checkout.

Here's the link:

And props to techbargains for pointing this out.

I was watching the Badgers on D*'s ESPNHD on Sat 10/13.  Half way through the 3rd quarter the screen went blank and the 721 - not available in your area.  I did a menue reset and received the same error?  Since the game was on Ch 12 it wasn't a big deal, just weird.

Wife called this a.m. before she left for work ~ 8 a.m.  Said she saw two guys in our backyard near the electical pole.  She asked if there was anything that she could do for them and was told that they were testing the new ATT TV service.

I've been noticing a lot of activity in the neighborhood lately, so I'm guessing it'll be here soon.  Don't see U-verse as an on-line option for my address, only E*.

Does anyone know if you can get internet only through U-verse? or is the internet service just their standard dsl service?  I just re-signed w/ D* for another 2 years so am not in the market for a new provider.

FYI  - We live South of Bluemound Rd and West of SunnySlope Rd.

Milwaukee HDTV Equipment / "F" to "RCA" adaptors
Wednesday Dec 13, 2006, 11:49:56 AM
I have an RG6 cable with male "F" connectors on both ends.  I need to change them to RCA (1 male, 1 female).  I have luck finding the F to Male RCA adaptor (Home Depot and Radio Shack) but no joy on the F to Female RCA adaptor.

I have found a female RCA coupler that will join two male RCA connectors.  I'll give this a go unless I can find the female adaptor.

FYI, the reason I'm doing this is I have a hot-link pro IR extender and want to move the eye a little further away then the current cable length.  I ordered the 25 foot cable ($40), then received a call from microsmith and was told that it would be a lot cheaper if I bought an RG6 cable and change the connections from "F" to "RCA".

So far I've looked for them at Home Depot, Farm & Fleet, Ace, and Menards.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks.
