Milwaukee HDTV Recorders & Players / Record Series
Friday Apr 04, 2014, 11:24:53 PM
Apparently, the first episode of "Cosmos" - that aired on something like 10 channels - was not considered part of the series.  So no option to "Record Series" existed.  The next week the "Record Series" selection was available and I was able to set it to record the series.

Milwaukee HDTV Recorders & Players / Record Series
Monday Mar 10, 2014, 10:08:21 AM
We're long time TWC subscribers, but have had DVR capabilities for only about 6 months now.  For the first time, I tried to set up to 'Record a Series'.

Apparently the new Cosmos series is not really a series.  I selected 'Record Series Option' - nothing turned red in the programming guide, and nothing recorded.

Is there any way to set up to record this 'series' when the programming guide apparently does not define it as a 'series'?

On/Off Topic Chit-Chat / Getting rid of old latex paint

Let it dry then throw out with regular garbage.

It is not a hazardous waste, and the hazardous waste disposal sites will not take it.  And at least here in Brookfield, the garbage guys will not take it if it is wet.

While true, this has nothing to do with sun spots.

Yes, the Audio Descriptive Service.  Very annoying.  Seems to have corrected itself now.

Still, seems strange there is no way turn this off in the STB -

Recorded NCIS last night and it came with annoying SAP overvoice.  The only SAP options I see on our Samsung STB is to select either Primary or Secondary language.  No option to turn SAP off.

We have also been plagued by SAP during live viewing on occasions.

How do I turn SAP off?

(On the TV itself, a Samsung LN46B630, I see no SAP options at all.)

Just got off chat with TWC support.  My latest bill shows a 99 cent charge for the DTA I have.  the first 'Analyst' agreed that they should be free, and transferred me to someone else to address the issue.  This new  'Analyst' spend almost a half hour trying to find confirmation that the DTA's were free until 2015 but could not.  He ended up just giving me a 12 month 99 cent credit.

I didn't find my letter until after the chat.

On/Off Topic Chit-Chat / DOCSIS 3 modems in MKE market
Tuesday Aug 20, 2013, 10:23:20 PM
So along with that new modem, you will need to purchase a 2 way splitter and a couple of short F-F cables.

Remove the coax from the leased modem and connect it to the input of the 2-way splitter.  Then connect the outputs of the splitter to the two modems.  Phone gets plugged into the TW modem, and the ethernet gets plugged into the new modem.

Call to activate the new modem.

Don't be surprised if they manage to disable your phone modem when activating your new modem.  Level 1 support did that to me, and had to transfer me to level 3 to get the telephone modem reactivated.

I installed one a few nights ago.  Hooked it up, it downloaded an update and did a channel scan, then popped up a screen telling me to call the number to have it activated.

I called the number, and the automated system failed.  It sent me to a service rep who had no idea what a "Digital Adapter" or DTA was.  She gave me a new number to call for "Level 3 activations".

Called the second number and after the normal automated phone system and the obligatory 20 minute wait, the guy I got had no idea what a "Digital Adapter" or DTA was.  I explained to him what the previous lady had said - that I would be calling "Level 3 Activations" - but he said no, he was not level 3 but he could connect me to them.

After finally getting to level 3, I told the guy my story.  He played along a bit inferring he didn't know what a DTA was either, but about 30 seconds into the conversation the programming popped on.

In all, it took me about 45 minutes on the phone.  Thank God for level 3!
