Effect of newer cable modem at peak hours

Just wondering if getting a newer modem with better channel capacity, for example SB6183, would have fewer slowdowns in this market during peak evening hours, than my relatively old DPC2100r2.  If I remember correctly, the DPC2100r2 is only good to 25 or 50 Mbps but the SB6183 is rated up to 300 Mbps.  

If you have any experience, please share.  Thanks.


Nope.  The node you are connected to goes .. as fast as it goes.  If it's under heavy traffic, a better cable modem won't help that.


The DPC2100 is a docsis 2.0 modem, and only has one download and one upload channel.  (correct me if I am wrong on the number of channels).  A docsis 3.0 8x4 modem such as the motorola/arris SB6141 spreads your data over a number of channels and *can* give you more stable transfer rates.  

But no guarantees.


Get the 6183 and future proof for MAXX. When ever that happens here.
