Let it dry then throw out with regular garbage.

It is not a hazardous waste, and the hazardous waste disposal sites will not take it.  And at least here in Brookfield, the garbage guys will not take it if it is wet.

In City of Waukesha, we have to take it to the dump...they have a special area for all kinds of paints.  Sadly, every city/town is different, so you almost need to either call the city or check their website to verify what your options are.

Thanks guys. Some of the cans have at least 3 inches of paint, so I don't think it will "dry" or will it?

Hardware stores sell dryer stuff to dry out latex paint.

You can also buy a big bag of generic cat litter (the clay based kind) and use that to "dry up" the paint in the can.  Basically, it just needs to be solid before going to the landfill :|
