Fox 6 is moving their Antenna this Week!

The prep work to get Fox 6's tower ready for the digital delivery system is now 98% done.

Therefore, they're ready to move their antenna, currently running at minimal power and located on a relay tower at Fox 6 studios, to its location on the tower in Estabrook Park.

The plan is to begin the process sometime tomorrow, and weather (and Murphy) permitting, they'll have the antenna mounted and ready to be turned on within a day or two of that.

The folks who get their Fox 6 Digital signal over the air, will obviously notice an interuption of service during this period. However, because TWC gets their digital signal directly from Fox6, TWC customers will notice no such interruption.

While the new antenna will also be running at reduced power, the HAAT should be high enough to result in a much greater signal coverage. The antenna will be mounted at 800 feet.

They'll be monitoring our forums for feedback on the improved OTA coverage. So when the signal comes back up, make sure to report your location, and if you have a way to measure it your signal strength.

Future infrastructure and power improvements are also planned in the coming months. But this looks like the news we've been waiting for.

this is what we have been waiting two years for... this really freaking rules...

will start checking the signal meter in the middle of the week for channel 33.

this now leaves WVTV as the only HDTV laggard in the area... (I'll cut WCGV some slack for only having one HD show)

I will believe when the digital signal is on the box and not one minute before.

I've heard this song and dance before.......

to be fair, you've never heard "it should be up this week" before. ;)

I spoke with Fox6 management this morning.  They called me. I've gotta think there would be no reason for them to call if it weren't true...

... and will thus downgrade from a 9v to a 3.6v battery and aim across the lake to maintain the same region of distribution. :D

I for one will be very happy once they upgrade. No reason to bash them right now, I think :D

Tom, do you know if Fox' antenna will be in the same location as the other networks?

Fox 6 HDTV antenna will be on their present tower... the tripod 1000' unit really close to WTMJ.
