It really is amazing that HDTV has made as many inroads as it has. In spite of high prices, dealer ignorance, broadcaster reluctance, mass media ineptitude, and cable's stupidity, this equipment still sells. The Feds want the money from spectrum auction and won't wait long to get it. I forsee many broadcasters paying big bucks for fines and scarce equipment to scramble to get current.
Retailers that sell this equipment and lie to their customers will enjoy a nice backlash. The bitterness of being "hosed" lasts a long time. The Fox's of the business world will join K Mart in their rewards for cutting corners. Imagine what kind of sales you would have with just a little promotion. The Olympics in HD never made it into the local paper because not enough people could get it. Not enough people could get it because they never knew....
