Milwaukee HDTV Equipment / Local shops selling antennas?
Saturday Aug 09, 2014, 08:48:13 AM
Hey guys, wondering if anyone knows of any shops that sell real outdoor antennas around the Milwaukee area? I would really prefer to buy local than order online. We just cut the cable a week ago and I am looking to upgrade our OTA capabilities. We live in Waterford so I am looking for something that has good range.

FINALLY... I thought I was alone on the Kimmel issue. Wanting it in HD that is. When I "moved" to Chicago locals I had glorious Kimmel in HD but alas, now I get it in SD at 11:35pm no less. MOVE Access Hollywood!!

Travel Channel is in HD now on channel 277. Have not had time this morning to read up on the channel launches etc but this is good news already!

Milwaukee HDTV Programming / Goodby TWC

Quote from: nwerner;55201Thanks for your help.  I really don't want to leave Directv as I think that they have the best HD picture quality of all the major providers.  I am just sick of waiting for ESPNU, Travel, BBCA, and PBS HD.  Luckily, they have NFL network

I think it would be wise to wait 2 months as most of these channels should be lit up with the new sat, and hopefully more premiums!

I have done some more extensive testing. I commute from Waterford,WI to Vernon Hills, IL everyday and I am able to fire up the sling app and have a show going for the entire 55miles. I still have one area along 94 that freaks out once in a while but all in all its very stable, very watchable. I actually just listen to stuff mostly and the app has an audio mode only option :)

Milwaukee HDTV Programming / Chicago CBS OTA

Have tried to pull it in here in Waterford without much success. I read some time ago that they were switching from VHF to UHF this year so hopefully that will or has happened..

Not sure how many other iPhone/Sling users are out there but I have been waiting forever for this.  This is going to be very awesome on the iPad..

Quote from: leprechaunshawn;54758If you want to know what TWC is going to have in the future:

1.  Check out what DirecTV, Dish, ATT & Verizon have right now.
2.  Wait 18-24 months for TWC to catch up
3.  Get "new" technology from TWC
4.  Be disgusted that this or that new TWC feature doesn't work right.
5.  Switch to any of the above providers
6.  Never look back

I love it! So true!

Quote from: RonH;54687Notice they will be charging for multi-room viewing, although it is free for beta testing.

http://directv.com/multiroom

In addition, for beta testing you use ethernet, but they will likely can that idea and use DECA (ethernet over coax) only when fully released.  You'll also need at least HR21/H21 or later recievers.  So to go multiroom will probably cost something like $10/month extra, plus a bunch of upgrade fees for your dish (you must have SWM) and any old boxes.  And you'll likely be back under a new 2 year contract.  I think I'll be avoiding this for now.  They keep raising my rates every year, and I keep cutting services to keep up.

Just to be clear, SWM is not a requirement for MRV with D*

My r22 and my hr21 got the update last night. I must say it works awesome and I am veeery happy to have this functionality!

DVR models are being upgraded before non-DVRs. It will be a while before the standard receivers get the update.

Milwaukee HDTV Programming / Dish or Direct?
Monday Feb 01, 2010, 03:23:18 PM
If MRV is important you, D* is the answer. The beta is rolling out nationally now and should be a normal fixture of D* service in a few months.  I think D* is pulling away from Dish and Dish continues to hemorage customers year after year.

MRV = Multi-room viewing/recording. Record in one room, watch in others, vice versa..

General (Non-HDTV) Milwaukee TV / 3-d
Saturday Jan 23, 2010, 07:22:56 AM
Is anyone hip to all the different 3-d formats out? Believe it or not my wife is asking what we need to be 3-d ready etc. I keep saying lets wait and see who / what is the standard so we aren't like the people who bought into HD DVD. Looks like we have the same storm brewing with companies joining up in opposing camps but I am still left wondering what the standard will be so I can pair up the right equipment!

Milwaukee HDTV Technical Issues / TWC picture jumping
Saturday Jan 23, 2010, 07:19:49 AM
QuoteMy solution was to switch to D* and that got rid of all my picture issues.

That is how I fixed ALL of my TW problems many moons ago :)
