I am going to replace my roof Ant. and put it in the attic. Space is not an issue. I am getting a new roof and don't want to put it back on the roof. I get all channels now. It is a 50 mile atn. The one I want to use is a 80 mile,plus ant. with a amp. But will be in the roof not on it. The specs for the Ant are.

Model DUV-XF Digitenna is the ideal solution for reception of US broadcast channels of VHF hi-band 7-13 and UHF 14-51. Range is 0-80+ milesbased on flat open terrain with no obstructions at 30ft. It is an attractive, easy to install answer to the need for more compact antennas that can pick up both UHF and VHF hi-band. The simple circuitry of the DUV interchangeagle module offers superior performance and less circuit board related signal loss. The module has no exposed connection points. The custom-formulated plastic housing carries a lifetime warranty against breakage. Because of their compact size, these antennas can often perform perfectly when mounted in an attic space.

    * Extreme Fringe Model Range: 0-80+ miles
    * Dimensions: 66in x 33in x 43.5in
    * Product Weight: 3.5 lbs
    * Gross Weight: 9 lbs
    * MADE IN THE USA

The New DISH HD Is Up For Many
February 11, 2010

As I reported here in Tuesday's edition of "The Satellite Dish" has come true, yesterday afternoon Dish Network lit up 9 new national HD channels to its customers.

A press release came out this morning announcing the new channels, but again I can see DISH Network is using fuzzy math. Just last week DISH was advertising that they had 150 national HD channels, and now by adding 9 channels they are claiming that they have over 160 channels.

I would love to see a list of all 160 national channels. I don't count the regional sports networks since DISH Network does not carry any of the RSN's except for the Big 10 Network 24 hours a day in HD. I don't consider "select games in HD" being real HD channels.

And while a lot of customers are happy with the new HD channels there are a lot out there who are not because they can't see the new channels.

DISH Network has placed the new channels on 129 and 72.7. For those who get their signals from 129 they are happy, but not too many people have Eastern Arc dishes in place to receive the 72.7 orbital location.

DISH Network issued a statement to me earlier today about the issue...

"A small number of customers have configurations that currently do not allow them to receive the recently launched HD channels. As each situation is unique, we are working with customers who wish to receive the channels on a case-by-case basis to determine the best solution for them."

What does Dish Network consider a "small number?" According to polls at SatelliteGuys.US and DBSTalk.COM over 40% of those Dish HD customers have reported that they are not getting the new HD channels.

Since DISH Network started offering HD the HD signals for the most part have always come off of the 61.5 orbital location. A few years ago DISH Network starting using 129 to transmit HD as many folks on the West Coast had a hard time hitting the 61.5 satellite. The 129 was a godsend to many folks, but Dish had to keep the programming mirrored on 61.5 as many in the Northeast and Florida couldn't receive signals from the 129 slot.

Now DISH has gone and placed its new HD on 72.7 and 129 leaving all of those pointing at 61.5 in the cold. Upgrading a customers DISH to one that can receive 72.7 is not a solution. 72.7 is part of Dish Networks all MPEG4 Eastern Arc service. Because is Eastern Arc it means that all of the receivers in a customers house must support MPEG4. Many customers will need receivers in their homes updated to ones that are compatible with the Eastern Arc service. These upgrades may require new commitments and out of pocket costs just to see the new HD. And for many they can not re point their 61.5 dish to 129 as the 129 satellite is too low on the horizon to be picked up. For these customers they might be out of luck getting these new HD channels and possibly any additional new HD that DISH night bring our way.

We will be keeping an eye on this one closely. We applaud DISH for bringing us new HD but we hope they can work a solution so that all HD customers can see all the channels they are paying for.

Milwaukee HDTV Equipment / Bought a nice Plasma
Saturday Dec 05, 2009, 06:58:55 PM
Wife wanted new furniture, I got a new T.V.  PN58B550T2 Samsung 58, This is the best set I have ever had. My old large set was a JVC HDILA set 56, I have a Vizio 32, samsung 32 720P and a Samsung 37 1080P 120 HZ, the 58 was 1669.00 From Bestbuy also got rewards points, free delivery, and 36 no interest , don't need that but will float it till after holidays. The picture for Bluerays and Dish HD is the best I have seen. I never really knew what people meant by "the blacks are better"  Set is still on line for 1769.00 well worth it. JMO

My mom has cancer. She sold her house and is moving into a apartment. She has TWC, phone,internet and cable. 3 receivers. I bought her a Plasma 50 inch for my/parents. 50th anniversary. I thought I would  get a HD box for it so I went to the TWC office on HWY 100 and Greenfield. To exchange a SD box for the HD box. I was told can't be done and that a service tech would have to come out for a service call to turn on the services climb the pole ya da ya da. This could not be done for a week this was the next available time they could make it. So while going thru kemo & radiation, no phone no TV no internet. Oh, and I can't exchange the box till after the service call and if I want them to bring one it would have to be rescheduled, which would push it farther down the road . Well first they are old and don't need a lot of friles. So as they moved in today I went over. Hooked up all tv's, modem, phone. All worked. TV internet and phone. Scanned all channels, free HD. Packed up the receivers. returned them. Canceled service call. Saved my mom 15.00 a month for two extra receivers, 50.00 for service call. this comes to 230.00 for the year. And and conformation that either the employees are incompetent or crooks. By the way two were at the window and supported each point that sounded as dumb as the last. Receivers did work but there package was the bottom and no need for them.  Again over selling. So glad I never have to use TWC again. Sorry for the rant. Peace{fart}

Milwaukee HDTV Technical Issues / ANT OTA Question
Sunday Sep 07, 2008, 12:48:19 PM
I am going to install a ANT for my mother-in-law, This is for the turn over to digital in the winter, she lives in Hancock WI, This is near Plainfield WI, right now she gets two channels from Wausau WI with rabbit ears, one channel good one not so good. I am looking at ANT, most I have seen have a range of 60 UHF, and the VHF range from 50 to 120 miles. question is Am I wasting money worrying about the VHF, from what I have seen most HD Digital channels are UHF, Any suggestions or comments welcome , thanks Also plan is to just mount it to a pole probley not very high but  will amplfy it, would say 6 to 10 feet, ya I know higher the better, but the back woods people worry about lighting and stuff. Thanks:rock:

Milwaukee HDTV Technical Issues / help finding channel 12-1
Saturday Sep 30, 2006, 06:38:46 AM
I setup a ant at a friends house. He lives in Richfield, Just West of the Pioneer Bowl, His back yard is connected to Kettle Hills, He is elevated a little. Put up a HD7084, from wanguard, no preamp (yet), has a RP HD Mits set, about 4 years old,I got him a hughs E-86 for OTA, Gets most all other channels, except 24-1 and 12-1, in the menu there is nothing on signal bar, nothing. Have tried rotating ant. It is just weird have installed many for freinds never had this before, most all other stations are very high some at 100%, Read somewhere that you can have a strong crossover that kills other stations. Any thoughts or suggestions, thanks Budda.P.S it is outside, on the roof, above roofline,no wires.

Milwaukee HDTV Programming / Waiting on Fox 6
Tuesday Apr 06, 2004, 07:46:57 PM
I must say I do not watch much on 6, except sports and sometimes news, however, I keep ,waiting and hopeing they will finnish ant., work. I have watched things that are not for me just cause the picture quilty is so good . Fox right now cable , sat ,ant. Picture quilty is BAD!  Thing is if you ran a company and you could increase your business .  I just wounder why it takes so long , other companys do it in the cold , or when it's hot , or windy. Whats the problem. Just like 18-2, they are ready and there is nothing there. I know power costs money, but if somebody could explain why station would half step in a arera that they bid on like sports, whats the point. Just venting. Have a great day.
