Milwaukee HDTV Technical Issues / New LCD/ burnt pixel
Tuesday Nov 04, 2003, 05:21:55 PM
Here's the question and some back ground , Have a freind just bought a Samsung 50" DLP T.V.. Set it up for him he has DTV, and OTA, HD. He also bought a Samsung DVD player which is the best I have seen to date. After all was set up and he said I got this VCR should I hook ity up, I said hey why not picture sucks but the kids might want to watch something, after it was hooked up ran a tape , took out tape and there was the blue screen, ONE burnt out pixel dead center of the screen. Is this normal or should he return it , the place he bought it from said 1 to 5 is normal, he is waiting cause if he exchanges it , will he have two not one, problem is now that he knows it is there he looks for it. Any input is welcome thanks

C/P  DISH Launching DVRs, SuperDISH
EchoStar said it's rolling out its newest digital video recorders (DVRs) in time for the holiday shopping season.

And Thursday, EchoStar Chairman and CEO Charlie Ergen said the company plans to have SuperDISH, its single-dish, multiple-LNB solution, out in mid-November.

On the DVR side, DISH Player - DVR 921, available in late 2003, will allow viewers to record up to 25 hours of HDTV TV or 180 hours of standard definition programming. The DVR also will give viewers the control to pause live TV, perform slow-motion instant replays, and use four speeds of fast forward and fast reverse.

The DISH Player - DVR 921 has a dual tuner allowing viewers to record two live shows at once while watching other programming.

At SkyFORUM Thursday, Ergen made the announcement concerning SuperDISH. The product was first unveiled in May, and will help the company deliver more high-def programming and expand local TV offerings into more markets.
