Milwaukee HDTV Technical Issues / U-Verse Last Night
Friday Sep 02, 2011, 08:47:52 AM
I watched part of it on TWC 1004. I didn't notice any picture problems but the audio was all jacked up.

It was like they had the center channel flipped with the rear surrounds. You mostly heard crowd & stadium PA noise with the announcers just in the background. And, for an extra treat, the crowd noise mics that were dominating the broadcast stayed hot even during commercials.

The other 2 games I was flipping between on ESPN & MLBN were just fine.

Milwaukee HDTV Equipment / In the Market for a new TV

Stay away from edge lit LED sets. Either go full array or save your money and get a regular LCD.

I'd try deleting that Tivo from your device list on Netflix & see if readding fixes the issue.

Milwaukee HDTV Technical Issues / Issues with TWC & QAM locals
Wednesday Jul 27, 2011, 12:42:06 PM
It was working last night at my house.

I'd try a different outlet in my house and another set with a QAM tuner if possible.

Latest News / TWC Navigator/Box Update
Wednesday Jul 20, 2011, 07:43:48 AM
My 8300HDC got hit with an update last night too.

They only thing I noticed in the few minutes I had it on was that the "enhanced TV" menu was shifted down to the info banner so it now matches my non-C box.

That's nice but when is WMLW going HD so they can stop ruining Brewers games.

4 TVs. 3 HD, 1 SD
2 with HD-DVRs, 2 with no box at all.

Quote from: Jack 1000;57195Some years ago, I read that TWC had at least 80% of its subs on a Digital Box, so I don't know how much smaller they expect that 20% analog audience to get before they go to an all-digital format.

Jack
That seems quite a high % & even if it is accurate I bet it is  certainly misleading.

I have 2 cable boxes in my house. I also have 3 tvs hooked up with no box.

I'm very satisfied with TWC now that they've got their "channel not available" issues fixed.

I miss NFL Network & the HDNets but at least I get the HD versions of AMC & BBCA. The On Demand selection is good & getting better.

Yard Sale / DirecTV HD DVR's for sale
Friday Jan 28, 2011, 08:22:39 AM
Quote from: JohnRacine;56908Do I have to subscribe to DirecTV?  Or, can I just hook it up to the antenna on my roof and watch/record locals in HD?

Thanks.
Watch? Yes.
Record? No.

Requiring home phone service in today's world is NOT a recipe for success.

Milwaukee HDTV Recorders & Players / Samsung HD DVR

Quote from: Jack 1000;56555Yes, the Samsung DVR's have 320 MB hard drives.  Jack
Yikes, are they running Windows 3.1? ;)

Kidding aside, thanks for the info.

Any chance the Samsung's have bigger hard drives?

Quote from: agrotto;56446OK, so I have two SA non-C DVR boxes. Should I look to trade them in for something new? What should I be asking for?

Thanks.
You can trade it to me.

I had 2 8300HDs. 1 died and was replaced by a 8300HDC. The C box is definitely slower & more prone to issues.
