You'd be surprised how much FTTP has been constructed in Milwaukee and the surrounding area in the last 5 years, mainly new subdivisions and new and existing apartment buildings and commercial buildings..IE"  3rd ward  and others.  There is a huge 5 year IP project that AT&T has going on to move away from Copper.

At AT&T we have started rolling out in Austin Area market 300/300 speed tier.  It will come to FTTP customers in Milwaukee market later this year most likely.

Milwaukee HDTV Equipment / 3D HDTV...worth it?
Saturday Sep 08, 2012, 10:10:19 AM
Not much 3D being offered by providers, ATT had ESPN 3D but due to lack of demand it was removed.  So there are really no  channels with 3D.  However there are a number of On-Demand Movies that are supplied in 3D on Uverse.

Quote from: LoadStar;58835Wow. With Uverse, the "one time charges" though are a killer, unless you opt for at least U200 television service as well. $249? Screw that.

There should only be  a charge for the modem for a self install of Internet only on full VRAD uvers

Just go to att.com/uverse to check avail.  It's the promo rate for 1st year after that it's 45 a month, but that still isn't very bad.
If you live in a VRAD ready area  you can get up to 24 down, the IPDSL only goes to 18 down.

Well I didnt' want cable as I like my Dish Network but hated the old DSL 6 meg max.....thankfully AT&T is upgrading Nationwide and changing from PPOE to IPDSL, I'm paying 34 bucks a month for this.

TWC is just the tip of the Iceburg.  All delivery providers....TWC/Cox/Comcast/Verizon/ATT/Dish/Directv and all the others are just hastening their doom.  While local stations have a little push with Digital coverage to tell people to hook an antenna up, the Cable only channels don't...but they can go to the future.

The Future:  all delivery Via IP....just like netflix and others these groups will start selling streaming subscriptions to their channel packages and there will be no middle man to mark it up.  This will be the beginning of ala carte programming delivered by the Producers of the product.

As more and more Internet connected TV's are produced and the applications are refined this will become the dominant method of delivery.

Maybe not tomorrow but sooner than you think

Milwaukee HDTV Equipment / Opinion: Sharp 70" LED LCD TV
Monday Dec 26, 2011, 09:28:10 AM
I've had my 65" Sharpe LCD for a number of years now and have been totally happy with the product.  Picture and quality is superb...it's our main viewing Tv we don't go to the theater.  We watch Sat, Netflix, Bluerays ect with the Bose it's just like being in the theater but more comfortable and the treats are a lot cheaper (not to  mention private bathrooms).

DSL and no phone internet are the exact same product...they used to only allow DSL with good prices on an existing phone line (sharing).  Uverse is delivered from a location (remote hub) within 3000 feet of wire from your house, providing up to their max package of 24 megs down 3 megs up.
If you can get the Uverse internet product opt for that.

On/Off Topic Chit-Chat / Caps for ATT DSL and Uverse
Tuesday Mar 15, 2011, 10:01:46 AM
I've been off the last couple weeks so I haven't been in the office, but will be going back on Thursday.  Then I'll get the whole scoop and find out if it affects me (having an employee account maybe I'll get a break).  And this is when I was getting ready to drop all the extra channels on the satellite and go to streaming video from Netflix...oh well you win and you lose.
