Ok, so I'm talking about the Basic package channels 2-25.  I am going to have to switch to this since i don't have the $$ for an antenna to be installed, and internal antennas don't work in my house.

What channels can i expect to see when i hook up my tv and do a scan for channels.  yes it's a flatpanel HDTV.  this is only a temp solution till we can get back on our feet, but it may take a year or so.

What digital channels can I expect to see, like 4.1 etc...  Is there an online directory of them?  Will any locals in HD leak through?

Unselect all but basic.

You should get 2-25 & 95-99.  I believe you should also get the clear-QAM versions of most of the local channels, 4-1, 6-1, 10-1, 12-1, 18-1, etc.

Thanks, I know that those are the channels that time warner says come with it, but i also know from past experience that some other channels slip through as well, I just don't remember exactly what they were.

Channels in the upper 60s and lower 70s unofficially come through.

I have basic only.  I get 62-70.   62 is snowy but color and watchable.

Until a few months ago we got up to 74, but I believe TW has been gradually reallocating this band to digital.

On Clear QAM I get
4-1, 2, 3
6-1, 2
10-1
12-1
18-1
24-1
36-1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
58-1, 2, 3, 4

I also get Milwaukee public access 14 on 120-14 in widescreen.

Edit:  They don't seem to pass program data for most of the QAM channels, which is a little annoying.  One more reason I usually just watch OTA from the antenna.

Thanks for the good information in this thread as well as http://www.milwaukeehdtv.org/forums/showthread.php?t=8950.

Something I'm not sure about is if the basic package transmits actual HD content.  If I were to go for the "Basic Service referenced here:

would my local channels and stations like TBS be in 720+?

When you have the Basic that is listed on the bill at $17.22, you should get the local OTA digital channels I listed via Clear QAM, which is digital.  The resolution will vary depending on the broadcaster and subchannel.

However, the non-terrestrial cable channels are still just NTSC analog.  So no, you will not get TBS in 720p or 1080i.
