Just checked mine in  bright light with a magnifying glass and nothing going on yet...prestine.
All discs, including older DVDs and even some laserdiscs (remember those?) could and sometimes DO exhibit this as millions are produced with thousands of titles over time.
If the manufacturing process coughs up a few bad batches on any type disc, the life of the disc can suffer.
My concern is the actual case of this movie, along with several of my HD-DVD and Blu-ray discs construction seems to prone to failure in closing.
On "The Prestige" BD, the disc looks good (not like the pictures shown), but the case was hard to keep closed tightly, so I had to "fix" it...could have been the way I originally opened it up, too.
Don't let this sway you from getting an excellent product to maximize your HDTV display and HT audio system.:D
