So, which Milwaukee channels are switching off the analog signals on Feb 17th now that the DTV delay act passed?

I read (for those that are interested) WYCC (PBS 20) in Chicago is turning off analog on this date.  That is the only Chicago station to say so at this point.  WBBM (CBS) will not be switching to RF12 until WISN analog turns off.

Its hard for me to imagine that some stations in a market will shut off and some will stay on...  This would mean lost revenue and viewership for those that shut off as people faced with a choice of watch whats left or watch nothing will tune to channels that are left on...

I also imagine that the networks will pressure local affiliates to stay online especially if there are other networks in the same market that are going to remain online...

I think its an all-or-nothing switchover in each market...

Now what??

Now we wait until June (or whenever) when the same arguments will be used to delay the switchover for another 6 months....

It is not really hard. Maybe the first reaction from people who will loose some channel will be to make something to get it back:D

Cuprisin's blog mentions 24 and 30 plan on dropping analog on the 17th.  He will have more info about other stations in tomorrow's column.

they all should turn off analog.. it's 5% of procrastinators in the whole nation.  they won't lose any more viewers now than they will in June.  Just do it.

TMJ4 said on their newscast that they are going to go with the new June 12th date for shutting off their analog.

I heard that as well. My personal opinion this is a BAD business decision.. it's pointless to throw money out running a transmitter because some 27 people decided to be lazy and not get ready for digital tv instead waiting for their TV entitlement from the goverment.

From a marketing/advertising standpoint... the people who haven't figured out how to deal with the digital switch by now are people who have about a 1% chance of buying your products.  I would think networks wouldn't care about those few people... I really don't understand the delay.

Oh well some dumbfounded (Who don't get the DTV stuff) who will turn on their TV with a antenna on Feb 18 may discover they can't pick up some stations. Its better that some are gone instead of all of them gone figuring to themselves the TV is broke when it really isn't.

I just read that 1 Milwaukee station has filed to turn off analog this month, WVCY:

Here is the complete USA list... although 2 stations changed their status in the last 2 days to remain on analog until kingdom come.

I take it WCGV-TV, ch 24 changed their mind?  Wouldn't surprise me.

PLEASE COMMENT on what you think of this DTV DELAY at:

The White House is soliciting comments before signing the bill into law.

It will not make a dent. The bill was suggested by Obama.
BTW, do they have stimulus comments? I wanted to say my NO.:bang:

Once it gets to the President's desk, they will post it for comment. Until then, your best bet is to contact your congress-person.
