44 NEW STATIONS MAKE DTV TRANSITION

You will note there is a new station on the air in the Milwaukee Market...don't get too happy unless you are NW of town...it is channel 43 WWRS-DT in Mayville.  They are transmitting at 250kW ERP at 450' up the tower.  Don't expect much unless you can turn your antenna that way...plus the sub-continental divide is just East of Mayville and I think their tower is West of that....but will be looking for reports.

     WASHINGTON, D.C. - The National Association of Broadcasters announced today that 44 more television stations have begun transmitting a digital signal.

     This brings to 665 the number of stations broadcasting in digital. DTV signals are now being transmitted in 171 markets that include 94.94% of U.S. TV households. In addition, more than 62% of all U.S. TV households are located in markets where local broadcasters are delivering five or more DTV signals.

     The National Association of Broadcasters is a full-service trade association that promotes and protects free, over-the-air local radio and television stations' interests in Washington and around the world. NAB is the broadcaster's voice before Congress, federal agencies and the courts. NAB also serves a growing number of associate and international broadcaster members. WWRS, on the list, didn't sound familiar, so I investigated.  I guess its a Mayville religious broadcaster.
