CableOne, Charter Communications, Insight Communications, and Time Warner
Cable, along with Armstrong and BendCable, Join the Growing List of MSOs
Deploying Motorola's HD DCT5100, Which Also Includes Comcast and Shaw

ANAHEIM, Ca., Dec. 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT)
Broadband Communications Sector today announced that it has secured additional
major customer commitments for its DCT5100 high-definition set-top.  CableOne,
Charter Communications, Insight Communications, and Time Warner Cable, along
with Armstrong and BendCable, mark the latest group of multiple system
operators (MSOs) to embrace the Motorola DCT5100.  The diversity of this group
demonstrates the wide appeal of Motorola's integrated HD digital cable
offering, which is ideal for all-size operators.
These operators are deploying or preparing to shortly launch this
scaleable, digital, high-definition set-top box, which will enable the swift
delivery of combined HDTV/interactive digital cable services to the growing
number of HD enthusiasts within their customer bases.  These service packages
can help operators attract high-value HD enthusiasts as new digital customers,
retain existing customers, and more strongly compete against satellite.
In May 2002, Motorola announced DCT5100 commitments from Comcast
Corporation, now the country's leading cable and broadband communications
provider, and Shaw Communications, one of the largest multi-system cable
operators in Canada.
"A recent study by Strategy Analytics* cited that demand for larger,
high-quality TV displays are driving HDTV sales and building momentum that is
expected to result in a forecasted 4.8 million homes with HD-capable TV
displays by the end of 2002.  By 2008, this number is projected to increase to
29 million households," said Carl McGrath, Motorola corporate vice president
and general Manager, digital consumer gateways.
"These numbers clearly indicate the tremendous opportunity HD offers
operators, particularly when they are well-positioned to bundle HD services
with additional on-demand interactive digital-cable services.  Motorola is a
leading pioneer in HD, digital cable, and retail - this is the right, winning
combination to help operators best take advantage of these opportunities and
deliver the next evolution of digital cable services to their customers."

digital revolution by being the first in the industry to approach the
government with a proposal to move from analog to digital technology to enable
