Charter TV App

After seeing the commercials I downloaded the app. It has most of the channels other then the big Networks. My next thought was if I get an Apple TV and just mirror  my iOS device to the TV then I wouldn't need a box. This would be an alternative for the TV's that I don't use as often and could skip the monthly box fee. Has anyone else tried this? Just wondering if for some reason they'd block the mirroring output to the Apple TV since people would be going around having the box then.
