Has anyone ordered this?  If they have, how much did it cost?

I'm concerned because when I went into My services to change to whole house dvr, it said it would be an $29.95 per month?????  That seems ridiculous to me.

I am really only doing it so I can get a Samsung box.  I miss it since the SA box sucks.

Call TWC, and ask to be transferred to the Customer Retentions Department.  They often provide good deals that the regular CSR's can't.  Say to Customer Retentions that you've been a TWC customer for years, and would really like to try the Whole House DVR Service, but believe the $29.95 price is too steep in this economy.  They will likely understand that.  I'll bet you could get that price down to $19.95/mo for a year.  Petition for that.  If you are a good negotiator, I think you can get it down to  that.  That's generally the cost in other divisions anyway, $19.95/mo.

The other thing you could do is upgrade to Signature Home, which is Triple Play on Steroids.  You get Whole House DVR, Digital Variety Package, Digital Phone, with all features, Wide-band Roadrunner/Wireless Networking, and more knowledgeable techs for $200 a month.  You can also get all premium movie channels for $230 a month.

They give you a personalized number to call with issues and questions that bi-passes the regular CSR line.

PS.  Whoever you talk to, insist on a Samsung box if you are having trouble with the SA/Cisco.

Thanks for the info.  I had a Samsung box, and it went bad and got stuck with a SA box.  I asked about getting a Samsung box, but they say those are my available for whole house dvr.  I feel like I lost service and they won't do anything about it.  The SA program guide is not full screen, and there is such a delay in bringing up the guide or changing channels.

I checked pricing for a new customer.  Digital service with HDDVR is $49.99/month... adding WHDVR with 1 HD DVR and HD box adds $27.90/month.  Kind of ridiculous IMO.  You're better off going with AT&T or DIRECTV if you want WHDVR.. much cheaper.

I would think you would be able to get a Samsung box or a better Cisco/SA box without getting WHDVR.  They have newer Samsung and Cisco boxes with 320GB drives that I've heard are decent compared to the 8300HDC.  The WHDVR boxes have 500GB drives.

I've got a Samsung in my living room (320GB), and our old 8300HDC is in the basement.  We decided to get an extra box when we moved, and I requested the Samsung on the truck roll.  They didn't give me any hassle about it at all.

The only thing they mentioned was that the 500GB boxes were reserved for their Signature customers.

I whined enough about the moving fees, that I got reduced service charges for the year and free Showtime for 6 months (not impressed btw).  Once my year is up, I might inquire about Signature service....we'll see.
