Zenith's New HT Products

Zenith Electronics Corporation has launched a broad array of DTV products –– including new digital set-top boxes, LCD monitors and a new 37" plasma display panel (PDP). The P37W24 is the first for Zenith in this screen size.
The P37W24 is an enhanced-definition television (EDTV) monitor, with 852 x 480 pixel resolution picture at what Zenith describes as "a more affordable price." The display includes "high performance features, like Intelligent Image Scaling™, built-in aspect ratio correction and RS-232C controls, are enhanced by a high contrast ratio and a wide range of inputs, assuring full compatibility with digital and traditional video sources," according to an official announcement. The P37W24 should be available this month.

Zenith has also launched an ultra-thin P50W26 50-inch Plasma HDTV Monitor, with 1366 x 768p resolution and a 600:1 contrast ratio. The P50W26 boasts peak brightness of 620 cd/square meter, a Faroudja DcDi De-Interlacer, Intelligent Image Scaling, and built-in aspect ratio correction to deliver maximum picture quality. Its range of inputs provides full compatibility with DVDs, computers, digital broadcasting and multimedia, as well as traditional video sources. The P50W26 is available now at a suggested price of $9,499.

Two widescreen rear-projection LCD HDTV monitors have also joined the roster: the 60" D60WLCD and the 52" D52WLCD, designed to display 16:9 and 4:3 high-definition images on giant screens ideal for home theaters and other home entertainment areas. Integrated with dual NTSC tuners for ease of use, and extensive connection panels, both monitors accept HDTV, SD and NTSC video sources. Three internal LCD panels, augmented by a nine-element lens systems, deliver 1280 x 720p resolution, with peak brightness of 680 cd/square meter, generous 100 x 30-degree viewing angles. Operational enhancements include picture-in-picture, picture-outside-picture and split-screen capabilities. The D60WLCD is available now at a suggested price of $4,999 and the D52WLCD will be available in October at a suggested price of $3,999.

Zenith's new L30W26 LCD HDTV/PC monitor, introduced for the first time to the custom installation market, boasts a 30-inch HD-capable widescreen display. Its 1280 x 768 W-XGA resolution, suitable for television and computer display, is enhanced by a 400:1 contrast ratio, peak brightness of 450 cd/square meter, and broad 170 x 170-degree viewing angles. An extensive array of inputs assures compatibility with digital and analog video sources, as well as computers. The L30W26, which has a suggested price of $5,999, is planned for November availability.

First showcased at the CEDIA Expo 2002, the new products are ample evidence of Zenith's commitment to the growing home theater market. A division of LG Electronics, Zenith was a primary developer of the US DTV broadcast standard.
