Canceling Jewverse as soon as Time Warner gets done rolling out Wideband.

Quote from: kevbeck122;57338I just called and got quoted $85 for Extreme... maybe because I'm an RR only customer?  The rep said she'd see if there are any deals and call me back tomorrow.  Otherwise she told me that standard will be bumped up to 10Mbps this summer.  I'd still like a higher upload though.

I'm also a RR only customer. I was quoted $70 per month. Make sure not to get the wireless option or they will charge another $5. They setup will be $30. :(  I'm sure if one waited for the official roll out/promotion. The upgrade will probably be free.

Anyway, my installation will on Sunday. I was given a couple of open slots for installation. So, if anyone wants Extreme tomorrow, give them a call. :)

It really depends on the path the packets are taking with all the in-between "hops." I can consistently get 1.75MB/s (that's megabytes, not bits) download when grabbing stuff from newsgroups, using their Turbo service. (I am getting Wideband installed tomorrow.)

The TW modem is a gateway. If one prefers to use it as a modem only. Go into modem's setting, disable both NAPT mode and DHCP.

I was at Mayfair tonight for something else, figured I'd stop by and check on this. Extreme isn't in my area yet, but is $10 above Turbo; Wideband is $99/mo and also not in my area yet.

If anyone has TimeWarner Business Class service at work, I just found out that I can get a good deal here at home with their 'home business service'. Same price as the RR fee I was paying ($49) and I get BizClass support along with 15M down and 2M up. That's compared to the 7M down and 512M up I was getting. It was a no brainer here... better support and more than double the speeds for the same price.

I had this package - they referred to it as the telecommuter package, but unceremoniously dropped it, and returned all of us here who had it back to the standard Road Runner package. I wouldn't mind going back to this if I could.

Any information on whom/where I should contact, or is this something you obtained through a contact at your employer?

Yeah, I got it by asking our TW rep at work. Not sure how you'd go about it if you don't have BizClass service at your employer.

Sounds like you and I work at the same place.

My install is complete. Woo hoo!

Had to upgrade my ancient router to be able to take advantage of the faster download speeds. It's always something... one thing leads to another.

Steve - what service tier do you have? Extreme should get you 30Mbps, Wideband 50Mbps.

I just got the 'home business service' which is their product for the 'home office' for existing business clients and their employees. It's only $49 a month, so it's pretty speed appropriate and a big improvement over what I had before (7M x 512). And all for the same price.
