Flanners moving

I got email from Flanners about their Moving Sale. I talked to one of the salesman and he said that they are moving to Colders at hwy 100 next month.

Interesting. When Colders bought them, they had talked about adding Flanners departments inside Colders stores, but they also said they were going to keep the stand-alone store open and possibly open more.

So much for that. Frankly, it seems like Colders just wasted a ton of money to buy a brand name that most people won't care too much about.

Marketing 101: Your brand is not a logo, it's the promise of an experience. By buying the logo, and eliminating the unique Flanner's experience, and replacing it with the Colders' experience, they've made a common mistake.  Too bad their disregard for the lessons of history or marketing will be like flushing money down the toilet. Hope they didn't spend too much.
