So, I'm not a huge tennis fan, but I wanted to check in on the men's final, which was delayed due to rain. But when I go to CBS 58's HD channel, they're apparently running their regular garbage, even though the guide says "Tennis" from 3:00-6:00. So, I had to go to CBS 58's website to see what's up, where they seem to prodly display that they have the US Open airing today at 3pm...on WLMW.
So, no HD, and not the easiest way of finding out why or where the US Open is aired. They could have run a ticker saying where the US Open is being aired (they run tickers and graphics for everything else, it seems).
Thanks, CBS 58, for a lack of info, and no US Open final in HD! Local channels are truly worthless.

Yup they're terrible, and they have the lowest PQ of any HD channel in the Milwaukee market. AND their news isn't in HD yet.

**** CBS 58.

I should've probably said something last night...this has happened three years in a row and each year they've moved it to WMLW because 58 (and every CBS affiliate) does not want to deal with the complaints of where their syndicated shows (especially Wheel and Jeopardy) went and why they were pre-empted. Same in any place where Oprah airs on a CBS affiliate. I knew from the moment I heard 'delayed until Monday' that it would be on 41.

I'm giving 58 the benefit of the doubt on this one; for one thing, the US Open needs to get a roof on their stadium like every other major tournament already (and many in the tennis community have asked such of them), as this has happened three years straight. For another, CBS had an opportunity to get the men's final in last night, but overreacted and had the US Open move it to Monday after only a four hour rain delay passed, because apparently CBS has something about the men's final attracting lousy ratings in primetime and didn't want to deal with whining from Big Brother fans who would've seen their show delayed to later.

Then it got moved to ESPN2 anyways after yet another rain delay. Pretty much 58 is always stuck in a rock and a hard place every year around this time, along with every CBS affiliate. Go with a tournament delay and deal with lower ratings and that annoying woman looking for her 'danged Wheel', or air the regular lineup and take the complaints of tennis fans. I think they'd rather just take their lumps with the tennis fans than have to talk to the housewife in Palmyra again who calls and complains about every single pre-emption.

I agree with the "they need a roof" comment.  It's hard to fault 58 -- despite the fact that I had set my DVR to record the finals.  The Open is in September in New York, in the hurricaine season, so storms come up the East Coast.  There went a lot of their network audience, even though I finally stumbled on it on ESPN.

BUT, they lost a lot of their physical audience, too. The stands were a third empty, and that's understandable.  Those are expensive tickets, and some people come from far-away places.

So, why not face reality -- Wimbledon, with all that British tradition finally has done it, and their main court has a retractable roof.  That's the solution -- we shouldn't blame CBS, or even CH 58.

It's a shame that so much of the potential audience -- physical and TV viewing -- missed some absolutely phenomenal men's singles play.

Wait a sec....are you saying that CBS 58 actually has an HD feed?
